He would have been cheering from the sidelines with a torn Achilles

The same injury would have occurred playing on a different team in a different place at a different time?  that's a crazy coincidence !

The only issue I had with with releasing Smith was that releasing him actually cost us cap space for that season.  The dead money or whatever they call it, and the additional Cap space we used signing his replacement.

As I recall, it saved us money on future seasons.

I've never believed that cap space was the driving force behind Smith's release though. It may have been a factor, but I think "Smith vs Cam" was probably the main reason.

Gettleman clearly stated it was footfall reasons and never mentioned money. this supports that 100%.

He was also rated as a #2 WR from a skill standpoint.

Paid like a #1

Acted like a primadonna

Yea you're not right but it's ok. He had over 70 receptions and over 1100 yards each of Cam's first two years before getting hurt in his 3rd year. And then went on to catch 70 more balls and 1000 more yards his first year in Baltimore.

You mean you had a problem with Carolina paying him more than the Ravens that first year?

He was thought of as a #2 WR by people that know more than you or I.
