Luke Kuechly has cleared concussion protocol. But Ron Rivera's statement to http://Panthers.com  makes it sound like he might not play.

Gotta think that if (read: when) we are officially eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday they'll make the decision to not play him the rest of the year.

by no means do I think we are making the playoffs or any of that nonsense. but if we did we could compete with anyone. would be very foolish to IR him before you know for a certainty we aren't going to be playing for the championship

There are folks that still want to win, and they think Luke will help in that regard. I can see it, from a purely fan perspective. If he is going to get another concussion, might as well find out now.

 

There are folks that want Luke to rest, and if we win, or lose, so be it. Rest just may be the best medicine.

 

IMO, as we appear to be willing to sit Luke this year. He will have almost 9 months before he plays again. If you want to give yourself the best possible chance of prolonging his career. Then this is probably the best option.

 

I mean, does it matter at all that both of his concussions happened on freakish plays?
