Ok, so with the BPA theory... Show me your Panthers draft big board (or, in my initial post, the top 30 prospects)

Gotta play the hand you're dealt.  They were cap strapped and the league removed the $13+ million and our franchise player in 2014.  Needed a WR too and KB was the best value at 28 as well.  In 2015 even picking in the late 1st they probably would have taken Humphries if Arizona didn't, who, by the way, was an epic bust before moving to LT but the final verdict is still sketchy at best.  And, after Oher represented relative value after last year, it was understandable to think we'd be "ok" to this point without giving up more than we'd get back.

I've still not seen or thought of a "I wish we'd have done this" at LT since Gross retired.

Going forward, if we believe Oher returns, then hope Ramscyk falls to round 2 or pick Davenport in Round 3 to groom and for insurance.

If we don't believe Oher returns, trade for one-Staley from the dumpster fire in Santa Clara being the most likely.

Nothing else we can do.  Teams like the Rams for Greg Robinson, Jaguars for Joeckl, or even Bengals for Ogbuehi among countless others have tried and failed.

I don't buy the logic of there was nothing they could do about there OL for over a half decade.

If there QB hadn't been a human video game that allowed them to cheat the system....they would have done more in that time IMO

Not a fan either of looking back at a draft and looking at random pick X and then saying there wasn't a player drafted right after him that matches so there was nothing we can do.  That just isn't how the NFL works.  Teams that want to solve X....move, trade, use FA, cut guys, play with the cap, whatever.....to do what they want.  Cam made the OL not a priority to the FO.  Now we are paying for it.

Hasn't been over half a decade.  Gross pulled the mini-shocker only 3 years ago.  Having said that, if Oher doesn't look full go, then MUST trade for Thomas/Staley/Veldheer/Brandon Albert/other, sign Okung, Whitworth, SOMETHING and SOMEONE that knows something in their life about playing adequate football at LT in the NFL, even if it means overpaying a wee bit.

How did Gross pull a mini-shocker?  The Gettlemen restructure made his retirement blatantly obvious of exactly when it was going to occur. That was the start of our OL decline.  Gettlemen forced Gross into that and our OL was totally put on the back burner from that point forward.

So yeah, I say our OL has been neglected for a half decade.

I love Cam Robinson, we would be lucky to have that stud. Both Safeties Adams and Hooker would be good picks also. I would say that Cook and Fournette would be after those three to me. If we got a legit veteran and Cam Robinson, Stew will go be an animal next year..and Cam will be able to stand in the pocket for more than 2 seconds

the bad part is we have just gotten so painfully behind in terms of our OL.

realistically, we should now be looking to draft and find Kalil's future replacement. But that won't occur until after Kalil retires/isn't here.

Gross has been gone for how long?  and we were suppose to be working on getting a real RT before he left.

Definitely true, but we also aren't the only team faced with this issue.  Aside of Dallas, I don't think there's a single team in the league that feels good about their depth at tackle.  Every year there are fewer and fewer tackles that enter the league that are ready to make an instant impact.  Finding good tackles now is extremely difficult.

Cam Robinson just isn't that good.  It's even more concerning for me that he's coming from Alabama, Saban honestly peaks a lot of those guys before they leave the college game.  And Robinson as he is now would get absolutely torched in the NFL

After Fournette / Hooker / Adams... My two favorite prospects are Quincy Wilson and Jalen Tabor in that order.

How would you all feel if we took Wilson or Tabor after just spending a draft on corners?

Assuming we grab a Jefferson or Cyrprien in FA and a couple pass rushers as well...

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
    • Jackie, any more reps tomorrow, or is that it for this session?  thanks for the work
    • How can you say they aren’t trying to win now with all the moves made in free agency? Or is trading first round picks the only way to be win now? I’d be fine never trading another first round pick again, win now be damned.
