Comparisons yo Donald Lafell are utterly ridiculous.  If Funchess can do one thing, it's catch.  At this point, Donald was a  better route runner, and could get better separation, but his hands were utterly atrocious.  Here's the thing though, Lafell had small hands and no matter how much he worked on it, he could not make his hands bigger, so he was forced to have his low ceiling.  Funchess can work on his route running and separation, those are correctable with hard work, Trump hands are not fixable, thus why I'm willing to give Funchess some time.

Look at your comparison...pats coaches find what a player does well then puts said player in a position to perform. You need to adjust your system to your players skill sets not fit your players into a worn out system that Doesn't utilize their strengths.

Even if we drafted a true slot prospect, I Don't think the powers at be (Shula) could take advantage of said players talents. It's about route combos and creating mismatches and Shula thinks misdirection and retarded formations can make up for his lack of creativity in route combos.

Thing about Bellichek is that he gets WRs that are versatile, fundamentally sound, & can run the entire route tree.

Devin's limited route running ability is the reason he is not utilized , like I said  earlier KB & Olsen does everything  Devin can do but 2x better. Thats why Ginn is our #2 & Brown should be getting more playing time. DG's obssession with size was the primary reason he got drafted, more so than his skill set. Todays game is about versatility that requires speed, agility, & awareness.

So are you saying that 2017 Panthers offense is going to be like last year with no improvment & hold this team back?

I say its going to be top 5 we should pin a thread for all the Shula naysayers for the record when 17' season pans out.

KB can't run the full route tree either.

Oh I can assure you Funchess can run routes.

I can tell you don't pay attention well. The whole reason for his upside was his smooth route running ability we saw in TC. Cam didn't give him enough looks.

I'll point out KB's TD could've been a wide open TD against Oakland. I can point put plenty of other things too where Funchess didn't get his opportunity.

He is limited route runner with iffy hands, & his production shows that. Philly is a much better route runner and should be taking over Funchess snaps.

I like Philly, but he can only body catch. Also, he jumps unnecessarily. I mean, just run, dude. Stop jumping whenever you try to catch.

If I'm going to knock Funchess for anything, it's for not using his size. He has a tight end's body, but tries to play like he's 3'8" Cole Beasley.

I think that gauging the value of a draft pick that was known to be young and facing a learning curve after just 2 seasons when it's commonly said that it takes teams 3 years (5 for QBs) to see the type of pro a pick will be is premature to say the least.

Funchess was supposed to be insurance if we lost KB down the line. From all reports, it seems as if he has grown between years 1 and 2. All that can be asked of him is that he continue development. If people want to write him off after this coming season, by all means do so. But now? Eh...
