“Being behind Luke and Thomas Davis was a great learning experience but I’m looking for an opportunity to go somewhere and start,” Klein said.

Klein, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2013. He has played out his four-year, $2,351,300 contract and is now in a position to test the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2016, Klein appeared in 15 games for the Panthers and recorded 31 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 76 linebacker out of 87 qualifying players.

Would be a great fit in a team that runs a 3-4 defense where his lack of speed and athletic ability could be concealed.

Lack of speed and athleticism?

“If I’m correct, his GPS has been faster than Luke’s," safety Kurt Coleman said of the tracking device that measures the movement of players during practice. “That’s very impressive.

“And he’s faster than TD."

That would be outside linebacker Thomas Davis, who won’t admit anybody is faster than him.

But Klein is fast.

“I don’t think people quite understand his abilities, which is just fine with me," Carolina coach Ron Rivera said. “He’s a solid football player and does some good things for us."

    • D Carr must have really disliked the saints to wait and do this announcement after the draft has passed if he made this call a few weeks before the draft sure they would have approached it and the offseason differently.  oh well will be interesting to see how their qbs perform.  would love to see them roll with Thill and just make the whole offense towards his skillset.  Although sadly would be only playing in about half the games with how often he gets injured.
    • I have to say it's quite fascinating seeing you pivot from months and months of wailing and agonizing about threads derailing into Bryce Young slingfests only for you to turn around and do the same thing. And just for the record. Nobody in life ever attained wisdom and clarity from mistakes by having people blindly fawn over them and tell them they are above reproach and incapable of making mistakes. Our front office is just as human as we are. And based on the fact that front offices across the league outside of a handful of teams change on a fairly regular basis it's safe to say they are certainly no more infallible than the average Joe even though they possess significantly more knowledge usually. If you want a utopia where all you do is shine shoes for anyone associated with the Panthers you go right on ahead and create yourself a new community sir. More power to you.
    • I trust Morgan when it comes to LBs so I think Wallace will do well.
