Carolina Panthers Have Hired Jerricho Cotchery As Assistant WR Coach

This is interesting considering that Proehl stepped down.  Maybe Cotchery has more of the coaching chops?  No one ever doubted Ricky's knowledge, but I wonder if he wasn't hard enough on Funchess and Benjamin?  Maybe too buddy-buddy for them to really be pushed?

Cotchery is also a very knowledgeable former player.  More brains in the room won't hurt.  Especially as the new WR coach coached college RBs (not sure how that makes sense as a transition?).  Or is it that the new coach will be the discipline and Cotchery will be the knowledge?  And there might be more plans for the WR coach in the future?

Or am I completely full of poo?  (Maybe?)

there's your "vet receiver" in the film room... without signing a new receiver to the roster

don't see any other big WR moves this offseason

Lol. Yeah, okay.

Again, it must suck to have a negative outlook on every single move.

not a negative outlook in the least... I fully expect Ginn to return, especially considering Gettleman saying talks are occurring already.  Ginn knows going elsewhere isn't in his best interest, won't cost the team much and isn't a pressing need to get the deal done right now

that gives us KB, Funch, Byrd, Ginn and whatever happens with Brown... I think Gettleman is fine with that roster and doesn't foresee the need for any big signings, and I would agree with him if so

Which definitely explains why Cruz was brought in for a visit almost immediately?

We are going to add to the WR position this offseason.

That is actually just filling an empty coaching position.

    • Brah, they signed Devion Lloyd. Hes a top 5 ILB for the last 2 seasons at Pffffffft. Another off-season of weights for Prince and Nic. Pat Jones is back and hungry . Lee dropped to the 4th round and has skills to be a CB starter. Thor is coming back.  Tre'von Moehrig is the second best defender and has another year in this system.  There's some young talent here, its time.
    • I’m greedy, was hoping we went all out on defense this draft, I think we’ll float in that top 12-15 range defense rank wise
    • Our biggest addition Jaelen Phillips has a significant injury history to include a ruptured Achilles followed by a torn ACL. We failed to add a much needed starting safety, ilb, and/or nickel in the draft.   Lee Hunter is nice but ends up being a wash considering the loss of A'Shawn Robinson. Injuries could cause problems for a unit lacking depth.  Top ten seems a bit ambitious with a likely upgrade in strength of schedule.
