So we draft Hooker.  That means we are shifting Coleman back to SS.  I don't hate this.  But, he is going to need to add a touch of weight.

honestly we shouldn't leave FA without a SS and if both of them outplay Coleman then so be it.

Honestly it's going to be a hard decision between him and Adams, you really can't go wrong with either, the deciding factor really is dependent on whether hooker can improve his tackling, but the same could be said for Adams if he works on his coverage, very very hard decision if both are on the board

Just hypothetical, if both Hooker and Adams were available, I would rather have Adams/Colman at SS/FS than Colman/Hooker at SS/FS.

Colman has proven he is capable of being a difference maker at the FS position.

Thoughts?

I rather have Hooker especially with NFC south WRs.

He still has to have tackling fundamentals. It's a weak point that's obviously not as important for a FS as pass D, otherwise he wouldn't be a top 10 pick.

Its not as bad as you and others are making it. Dude was locking down whole sides of the field in college. If you can't tackle, you can't do that.

I actually prefer both safetys to favor pass defense in this current era. One of reasons Coleman was moved to SS is to help the rookies CBs. Besides I believe panthers mix and match safetys, they move around and need to be capable of playing both FS and SS.

Hooker is way better in coverage and is a ballhawk.

Thomas is right up there too.

I won't disagree with that.  Adams reminds me of Sean Taylor tho.  He seems to have the mental make up of a player that will strive to be an all time great.  Adding a guy like him with shaq and luke guys will be in the ice bath after playing us.

With Hooker you could keep two Safteys on the field at all times. Having Hooker is like having a extra DB on the field.

I think Coleman's best position is FS but having Hooker could elevate our secondary and make Coleman formidable at SS.

Not opposed.  I really like the talent in this draft.

No its not, but we shouldn't expect it. He is a high value safety with incredible range and safety is the hardest position to fill.

And did anyone see Carson Wentz going with Jared Goff going right behind him? Lol!!! Wait until after the pro days and combine before you speak about who's gonna be there when we pick. Because right now it's anyone's guess, Mel Kiper Jr.

Not having Tre Boston on the field makes everything better. Colman can actually cover guys as well. If we bring in a guy like Cyprien he only has one trick if you know what I mean. Also Adams would be nice but I doubt he drops.

    • 3 wins might get us the no. 1 pick.  5 wins probably puts us in the top 5.  Look on the bright side.
    • It's not just "week two". Bryce has started 30 games at this point and it's still the same poo. Unless the opposing defense is playing Charmin soft and we seemingly have nothing to play for, Bryce can't do anything.  I'd rather try to land a Jameis Winston or Sam Howell for a late round pick than play Hooker but at this point we gotta try something else.
    • It's really all on Tepper. He was the engine behind the Bryce trade, which the roster obviously wasn't ready for. We wasted a year proving that the roster wasn't ready to support a young quarterback, and then spent a mandatory offseason using all possible resources to patch up the offensive line and find offensive playmakers. Then the defense was the worst in the league, and we spent an offseason trying to solve that. We've been chasing our tail, dealing with problems that Tepper let stagnate while he chased immediate contention, and then the shiny toy of a young QB.  Dan's got a competent contract guy and he's finally hired someone to stop him from wasting draft capital in bad trades. Those two things alone put a functional floor on his performance. I don't think he's got the vision to turn us into the Eagles or the Chiefs, But if the owner's never going to agree to a proper rebuild, it probably doesn't matter.
