I agree from what I have heard he is not that good at LT..not sure there is much talent out there besides old guys who use to be good or younger who don't cut it.. a big need around the league it seems like this year

I've heard mixed things, mostly bad like others have said in this thread, but he was a first rounder and didn't he have a pretty good rookie year? He's also kalils brother...

depending on the price might not be a bad signing. We really need some Gettlemagic on the LT position this offseason, find us a coleman esque player only at Lt

edit: heres a snippet from PFF on him, he was injured last year

Left tackle Matt Kalil (47.1) has been largely a disappointment since his wonderful rookie year of 2012, bottoming out in 2014, where his 55 pressures allowed were the second-most in the league among tackles. He improved slightly in 2015, where his 44 pressures allowed were just 18th in the league. Nonetheless, the Vikings are getting below-average production from their former top-five draft pick at a very important position in the development of quarterback Teddy Bridgewater (77.4).

It's always a big need. LT is the most important position on the offense besides QB and good/great LTs are hardly let go.

Have to sign him, at least for competition and for the mere fact playing next to his brother may bring out the best in him.

I do not see any reason a realistic offer should not be made.

what a shitty world we live in. fighting over matt kalil with the vikings.

all of this because everyone hopes he's finally healthy and because ryan thinks he'll work out here.

i'll support him 100% if he comes here, but i just think it's sad that we're here with one shot because these dudes are brothers.

    • You are right--it was DC.  I remember talking to him at Belk in Albemarle one day--the Panthers were on a bye and they were (at the time) a disapointing 4-4.  I mentioned that the record was disappointing and he seemed to get a bit annoyed.  He dId not say anything.  I trying to suggest that we will get better, but I think he was pretty upset about it.  No hard feelings, but the man was simply trying to shop with his wife and this annoying jerk starts making comments about his job---I get it.  I apologized, telling him that I was trying to be supportive and not critical--he did not think it was a big deal.  I'd see him at events from time to time-he'd wave or say hi, but it was awkward for me.  Figured I would say something stupid.  Jordan was pretty popular--nothing like she seems to be now--she is holding her own in a man's world...proud of her.
    • Like we have had the last 3 years.
    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
