Captain Munnerlyn cites weather as a big factor in returning to CLT -- "and seeing a roster that was ready to win."

Captain Munnerlyn said he looked at moves the Panthers were making in FA and thought, "OK, they're trying to go back to the Super Bowl."

Carolina Panthers Retweeted

Munnerlyn: "A lot of excitement. A lot of relief. I'm glad to be back home."

Captain Munnerlyn was in Charles Johnson's box at BoA for NFC title game vs Cardinals. Said "city was on fire" for Panthers' Super Bowl run.

Peppers: "Home is where the heart is. I always wanted to come back & repair the relationship & build the bridge back with the team & fans."

Munnerlyn says he was just talking a "little noise" when he called Panthers front runners last yr. after Vikings beat them.

However, Munnerlyn says he might have to talk to Devin Funchess, whom he singled out. Says he wants best for Funchess b/c he's his teammate.

Captain on Peppers: "He's still got a lot of left in him."

But I thought Free Agents stay away from us because we aren't ever trying to win and Gettleman is a cheap POS!

Munnerlyn on Peppers: "He's still got a lot left in him. ... He still looks young." Faced him twice a year while in Minnesota.

Munnerlyn says he always kept in contact with old teammates and thought this day could come.

Cornerback Captain Munnerlyn kept his home in Charlotte even after signing with Minnesota in 2014. He came to the NFC Championship at the end of the 2015 season to watch the Panthers beat Arizona and advance to the Super Bowl. Carolina defensive end Charles Johnson got him tickets in a suite. Munnerlyn talked about that on Saturday after signing his new four-year deal to return to the team that drafted him. "It was different,'' Munnerlyn said. "We made the playoffs that year when I was with the Vikings. We fell short. I wanted to come back and play those guys in the playoffs. I was here for the experience. . . . Just to see those guys excel, to see those guys go to the Super Bowl, I was happy for them.''

I'd pay to be a fly on the wall, the first time he runs into Funchess. Captain pretty much went for his throat, for those who forgot

“I think we just knew where Benjamin was the whole time. Funchess, we weren’t worried about him. It was Kelvin Benjamin,” Munnerlyn said to reporters after the game. “I’m just going to be honest. Me personally, and I never talk like this, but I don’t think he is that good, No. 17. So, we weren’t really worried about him. We were worried about Benjamin and Ted Ginn Jr. and Corey Brown. We knew they were getting the ball and receiving well. We just tried to communicate and make plays.”
