Report: Panthers 100% Sold On Fournette - Will Be Pick If Available

Fournette has been bred as the best runningback since Adrian Peterson far often this draft season. His unbelievable power and finesse in his run game makes him one of the best downhill runners the game has seen in a while. Even though he's questionable with his ability from the shotgun, he still could impact any team he goes on in a positive way, and even I believe the Panthers would know what they're doing if they pick such a runningback.

Well, our very own Igo revealed some nice information on twitter today. Apparently, the Panthers are sold on Fournette. Will be the pick if he's available.

For those of you who assume this is mere speculation by Igo:

Take this what you will.

I think Tom Coughlin will make our decision much easier or harder, by taking Fournette @4

What the fug do you mean???? Kalil, Turner, and Norwell are great. Oher Is very solid if healthy. Williams looks the part too. We're just lacking one piece.

The only position battle on the oline will be at RT... We have come into the season much worse off in the past.

Matter of fact... at this time of the year, when were we more set preseason?

I can't think of a time

Are you saying that LF is Bo Jackson? Because that's a hell of a comparison. I certainly don't see it.

Anybody comparing LF to Bo Jackson obviously never saw Bo Jackson play.

Very different.  The primary one being that (allegedly) Jackson (at 235 lbs) ran a sub-4.2 40-yard dash at what was then the very little known NFL combine back in 1985.

That is amazing speed.  Fournette's 4.51 doesn't even sniff the general area of that kind of physical ability.

Ever so often there are guys that come along in the draft, that based on production and measurables have all signs pointing to them that they are game changers and can be so at the NFL level. Guys such as Luke, Peppers, Clowney, Cam Newton, Andrew Luck, AJ Green, Julio Jones, Adrian Peterson, etc. Leonard Fournette is undeniably one of those caliber of players.

Fournette played for an SEC team that had an atrocious passing unit. It was clear that all the opposing defenses needed to do was stop him.....and they either failed or struggled mightily to do so. 11 vs 1 in the SEC and that single 1 won his fair share of battles. We are talking a player that can add to our team in the biggest way by helping our offense OWN the game clock!

Now, if I'm Gettleman, do I trade up and guarantee myself drafting Fournette? Well, I got myself a descent Stop Gap DE and SS in FA. Could stand to add some youth at the DE position! But this is Fournette! Can you imagine having Cam and a young Adrian Peterson on the same offense? My GOD!

If I'm Gettleman, do I trade both 2nd Rd picks or even next year's First Rd to draft Fournette? I could keep both 2nd Rd picks and pick up talent along the lines of Devin Funchess and Kony Ealy!

Would you rather pair Fournette with Cam or draft a duo similar to Funchess/Ealy?

I would take Fournette all day, everyday in this scenario.

Sure, I would love to have a Julio Jones/AJ Green type WR on our roster! This draft doesn't have one. Would love to have a viable #2/Future #1 TE! Howard looks nice, but I'm reminded of the Eric Ebron hype! Not a safe top 10 pick. Sure, we need a Dominant DE on our already solid DLine! Outside of Garrett, everyone looks to be a 6 or 7 at best when it will take somebody of the 8-9 range to truly give us the pop the a 9 scale RB would add to our team.

I'm not willing to co-sign trading our entire draft for Fournette but I would definitely offer up Pick 8, 64, and next years First for Fournette

Agree with that viewpoint.  I don't think LF is in the same league as AP (lateral agility being the downfall) - but if he is, he's absolutely worth the pick.

That's what DG has to figure out.

I've pointed this out before, but I think a good current NFL comparison to Fournette is Le'veon Bell (excepting the fact that Bell showed talent to be a threat in the passing game in college and Fournette either couldn't or wasn't given the opportunity).

Are you out of your mind? Fournette's style of running could not be further from Bell's.
