Panthers for sale?

Smithers

Based on that article, it seems that a sale will only be made if the buyer agrees to not move the team out of Charlotte. I hope that holds up.

I'm wondering how that would work.  Once the new owner takes control he could potentially do whatever he wanted.  Right?

No would have to get approval from at least 24 others owners.

Yeah, I know that.  I was just wondering what kind of agreement or contract language Jerry could put into the sale that would legally keep the new owner from moving someday.

Thought I read in that article about state if the art stadiums.

Look I enjoy Bank of America stadium but it is hardly state of the art by any means and if it was, I am not sure most of us could even afford to go anymore

i forget the names as I don't follow NASCAR but want there any ownership group from NASCAR that wanted to buy the Panthers and keep them in Charlotte?

I know I always need to specify this for people because they lack common sense, but the comment below in no way expresses my feelings on the health of Jerry Richardson. I don't wish death or poor health on my worst enemy, let alone Jerry Richardson.

What a shame this news about the team being sold is not true. It was exciting for a few hours to think there was actually going to be a succession plan going forward and we did not have to worry about the team moving. It was also exciting to imagine having an owner for this first time in franchise history who valued the team over the shield. He has the right to own the team until death, but I do wish he would have some type of succession plan.

I couldn't disagree more.  I am very happy with JR as owner, and the thought of new ownership makes me very nervous.

How many good/positive owners are out there?  4 come to mind, Rooney, Mara, Craft & JR.

There are a handful of less visible/unknowns who don't seem to meddle too much (which is ok) from Tennessee, Buffalo, Baltimore, Oakland (Al's family), Seattle

But then you get to the real crap starting off in our own division. This is what really scares me:

Glazer's
Arthur Blank
Tom Benson
Dan Snyder
Bill Bidwell
Jerry Jones
Mike Brown
Jimmy Irsay
S Khan
Clark Hunt
Z. Wilf
Ted York

Honestly ask yourself, would you rather have JR or risk another version of the above listed poo show?

It is legitimately laugh out loud funny that you listed JR with Kraft, Rooney, and Mara. I can promise you the opinion of Jerry outside the Carolinas is not high at all.

Do you have multiple sources confirming that notion? Because we've seen multiple stories over the years how highly regarded he is amongst other owners.

So highly regarded that the owners turned on him during both the referee strike and the Rams moving to LA over the chargers and Raiders? Let me find that article where the owners blindsided him and he threw a hissy fit saying how much he's done for the league.
