The most in-depth Panthers NFL Draft Preview I've seen yet

This is exceptional:

The 2015 Carolina Panthers were a very good team for whom everything broke the right way. The 2016 Panthers were a very good team for whom everything went the other way.

Cam Newton, according to head coach Ron Rivera, was "shook" by pressure in 2016, per ESPN.com's David Newton. The run game, which had been tremendously effective in 2015, took a turn for the worse. The offense was far less effective in the red zone. Linebacker Luke Kuechly, the team's best defensive player, missed six games due to concerns over concussions. Cornerback Josh Norman, the team's second-best defensive player in 2015, signed a multi-year deal with the Redskins. Injuries beset the offensive line, and the Atlanta Falcons decided to get really, really good in 2016, taking the NFC South by storm.

Yeah, I saw this earlier today.  I was perplexed by the rankings of certain players.

Like Cam as a Top 5 QB.  Like uhhhhhh, what?

How the fug is Tre Boston our best rated safety?

It's called grading Tre Boston on what he was supposed to do instead of blaming him for every bad thing that happened in the secondary.

    • Damn I liked A'Shawn too. This is basically a heads up we're planning on cutting you move.  Robinson wasn't the best but I loved his attitude and effort on the field. He held that entire dline together when Brown went down iirc..granted we finished that season as the worst rushing defense in modern NFL history.  If Wharton would have performed up to atleast half of his salary last season, I'd feel a little better about it. We do need that cap space though.
    • 13. Carolina is coming. The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound. I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on. They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO) And from what I know about the team... I think they will be. Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know. (That part is purely my opinion. No one told me that.) https://x.com/lindsay_rhodes/status/2027212533417869499?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
    • Because this DL is completely reliant on Brown being available and being a stud. Without him we were the worst D in history. The Wharton signing last year reeked of desperation. He just isn't a great fit for us schematically and I think we panicked a little bit when we missed out on Milton Williams who would have been a great fit.
