7. From the people I talk to, the Carolina Panthers are getting a lot of love as a landing spot for Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey at No. 8 overall -- even if LSU RB Leonard Fournette is still on the board. You can certainly make the case for the Panthers going that direction, considering they have a need at both running back and slot receiver, and McCaffrey could help fill both holes. One interesting connection: Lance Taylor, who's now Carolina's WR coach, was McCaffrey's running backs coach for three seasons at Stanford.

There are like 2-4 people that are saying Panthers have Fournette high on their board - including Igo, @Verge's guy, and the NFL draft scout - while Jeremiah and McShay say the Panthers are high on McCaffrey.

Excellent!  I was thinking this even before the news in that if we can trade up to number 2 before the draft, we would be in excellent position to draft Myles Garrett should the Browns pass on him.  If not, we automatically get Fournette.

I don't like or want the deal, but the source is pretty legit.  By the same token, DJ and McShay are very connected too. I think there's a bit of truth to both sides of the convo.... I just hope it doesn't happen.

For me:

Fournette > CMC

CMC + pick 40 + pick 64 >>> Moving up for Fournette at 2.

We're still getting a RB which is the desire, though it might not be the bruising higher rated RB that LF is. However, CMC offers quite a bit of versatility that LF does not. I just don't see how a talent evaluator like DG would sacrifice two picks in the top 64 to fill the same position.

Based off an interesting conversation I eavesdropped on while eating lunch at Uncle Maddio's uptown today, I think there's a strong chance we're making a trade too. This isn't a parody post or troll post, I literally heard something interesting today. I don't think we're trading up to 2 though, I think we're going to pick at 8 and then trade back into the first round like in 2008 with Stewart and Otah.

This wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I wouldn't mind Adams, and jumping back into the 1st for a falling CmC or Njoku.

Either way, I want an impact player on O if at all possible.

Right? It's probably pie in the sky, but I'd build an altar to Gettleman if we somehow get Fournette or McCaffrey *and* OJ Howard.

Don't see Howard being reachable...probably going in the top 15....Njoku on the other hand may be able to be reached if he makes it past say.....24 or so.
