People keep using the Patriots as a comparison

How many fan favorite / key players have they cut over the years? I shouldn't say just cut but released on very bad terms. Serious question. I don't remember Vince Wilfork bashing the Patriots or ripping Bill Belichick when he was released. I can name at least 5 Panthers who openly criticized Gettleman and the way he does business after their release. It is a bad look for the team and the organization. It almost reminds me of the Chip Kelly situation in Philly and he also didn't last very long.

Cool story.

I'm sure Steve Smith, though he will casually crush a man's skull, would NEVER tell a lie.

I asked a question for reference no need to be an ass.

The last time I can remember a GM parting ways with players in a poor manner was Chip Kelly and the Eagles and he met the same demise as Gettleman.

I am asking for an example of a Patriots player leaving on a sour note, Since so many posters are using them as an example to our situation.

And how many mad a big stink out of it?

Only one I can think that kind of got mad was the LB that got traded to Cleveland. But he wasn't a franchise conerston and was about to get a huge payday coming off a rookie contract.

As much as I hate to say it, New England is the best football franchise ever. No clue who calls the shots there, it works like a charm. I guess it doesn't help to have Brady as your QB either. It'll be a long time, if ever, before anyone emulates that with any success.

so we got rid of a GM with a top 5 winning percentage because when he tells players they're cut he doesn't do it a nice friendly way?

I am not saying I agree but I am sure plenty of teams would be fed up with the bs eventually too. The Josh Norman fiasco was all I heard about last off season and we went on to go 6-10. Bad press is bad press and it's not a good look for a team.

    • I only wonder about the West Coast team playing on tne East Coast at 1pm factor and historically that has been worth a lot to the home teams. And maybe playing down to the competition that happens sometimes. And the crazy up down up down pattern we have been in this season.  I don’t bet on these things though.
    • I think the racist stuff is barking up the wrong tree with Tepper. He is all woke and stuff. Not that liberal white people can’t be racists they are in their way pretty racist.  Or can be,  I for sure agree about the yes man aspect and particularly apply that to Wilks.  I didn’t understand the Rhule hiring at all. Did not want. But down the line with Wilks, zi personally wanted him, and personally did not see the racism being a factor in the Reich hiring as much as the fixation with offensive minded play callers and copying that trendy model.  I am having a hard time calling to mind any Black coaches who were out there with the big offensive rep. At one time Byron Leftwich was a hot name who I liked. Don’t remember what happened there but he faded. Bienemy but I never believed in him much, personally.  I think Tepper basically excluded defensive guys and went for the top rated play caller OC types. And couldn’t get Ben Johnson and ended up settling with Reich.  Who ended up NOT being a yes man at all.
    • Someone like Steve Smith wouldn't have last half a season under Tepper.
