Hurney meeting with JR today

Captain Morgan

I'm not going to panic about Hurney until he makes the same mistakes again. He's had plenty of years off with people telling him how terrible of a job he did and how he destroyed our cap. I would imagine he feels bad about it and if he wants a final shot at a redemption of sorts, this is his final chance as an interim GM. Of course if JR is really pulling the strings behind the scenes, we'll find out soon enough.

I still can't wrap my mind around this. We just fired the best GM this team has ever had, only to consider re-hiring the worst GM we have ever had and who couldn't even get another GM job after being fired here. We did this barely more than a week before TC and, apparently in the middle of a contract negotiation with TD, who is 34yrs old.  Unless Gettleman has been doing something heinous like molesting little boys,  this is utter madness.

This is inexcusable and unforgiveable. No joke, this whole situation would be equal to not re signing Cam Newton and letting him walk then signing Jimmy Clausen to replace him.

Firing Gettleman was inexcusable, but bringing back Hurney to replace him is unforgiveable and a HUGE slap in the face to Panthers fan, talk about kicking us while we are down.

100% considering a new team. No joke, I pulled up a list of all 32 teams and researching on what new team I want to pull for. Right now im its between the Titans, Rams or Texans.

I already set rules in my new team search. No contenders (too easy) no NFC sout team (obvuois reasons) has to be a similar franchise and situation of the Panthers.

the titans have an impressive young QB and play in a weak division-they're as good a candidate as any to possibly explode and go 13-3 out of nowhere imo.  if you're looking to bandwagon jump i'd say go for them.

I appreciate your calm, rational, state of mind over the recent FO shakeup. Part of me is terrified. And, another part actually agrees with you. I can't help but think Hurney realizes he did a poor job the last several years he was here. Hopefully he learned a thing or two from G-Man.

As long as he doesn't pick any of the players after the 1st round (let the scouts and Rivera do it), trade away next years high draft choices to move up one round in the present day draft, and hand out 35million+ contracts to running backs he may do a little better this go around.

Two of these years he had no first round pick at all.

And whose fault was this?

Who were those first round picks traded for?

Once you know the answers to that, the whole "Hurney was money in the first round" claim goes out the window.

A review of his overall draft history clearly demonstrates his lack of an eye for talent and more of a hit and miss approach.

All we need is for the Hurn Dawg to keep this ship a floating until we get our new GM. Hopefully, we're finally able to get a great GM!

There's not going to be a new GM. JR is just side stepping the Rooney rules.

Add to that a coach who has a poor eye for talent and we are in for some dark years.
