Hello Mr Richardson. My name is ******** **********.

I have been a Carolina Panthers fan for more than 20 years. I have been through the Kerry Collins shenanigans, Rae Carruth, sat through all games in 2001 when we lost 15 straight and went 1-15, as well as the agonizing 2010 season where we went 2-14. I have also been through so many other low points as a fan which for me were a result of some terrible front office decisions. Mr. Richarson, I think we have made some stupid decisions as a franchise, but in my opinion, the abrupt firing of General Manager David Gettleman two days ago with no subsequent explanation takes the cake.

I don't think you need me to tell you that David Gettleman got us out of cap hell created by Marty Hurney. Gettleman also attacked headfirst our culture of coddling talented yet toxic personalities and instilling a team first culture where no egos were above the team. The proof is in the pudding Mr. Richardson. Only New England, Seattle, Green Bay and Denver have won more playoff games in the last four years than us. I think any objective student of the game can tell you that Gettleman was a legitimate GM that had us on our way of becoming a stable winning franchise.

In my view Mr. Richardson, the message that you just sent with the firing of Mr. Gettleman is essentially a big middle finger to most fans. For me and several fans, this decision reeks of "This is my team, I do what I please, so go to **** yourselves!". I am going to stick by that sentiment until I get what I feel is a sufficient explanation of why we got rid of the best GM in team history.

Sometimes I really wonder about the priorities of our ownership, and even staff and some of our players. Is it possible that the fans care more about winning than the ownership? That is not a rhetorical question sir. I would like to know whether you are commited to winning or if you are on some type of self-sabotage excursion.

Mr. Richardson, either you used David Gettleman as a hatchet man to clean up the mess created by people like Marty Hurney and yourself then spit him back out, or you simply have lost your mind sir. My guess is the latter as I find it unlikely that an NFL owner with all his faculties fires a GM a week before training camp.

If the firing of David Gettleman was the big middle finger from you to us fans, then the hiring of Marty Hurney on an "Interim Basis", is the subsequent sucker punch in the gut. There are rumors going around that Gettleman was fired because he took a hard line when it came to extending the contracts of players like Thomas Davis and Greg Olsen.

So let me get this straight sir. We fired Hurney because he was creating cap problems by handing out feel good contracts to aging and/or overrated players. Then a few years later, we decide to bring Hurney back to do the same exact thing for which we fired him? Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results. If these Thomas Davis/Greg Olsen rumors are true, then we have essentially fired Gettleman for the same reason we hired him.

Mr. Richardson, this is your team. You can do as you please. But as a fan, I may have to reevaluate my passion until you make up your mind regarding your role when it comes to personnel decisions. If you are going to play Al Davis in his later years, Dan Snyder etc… by meddling away and running the team into mediocrity all the way to the bank, by all means do that and none of use can stop you. Otherwise, if you value the opinion of fans like me, please step back and let these GMs do the job that you hired them to do.

Oh I was, but comparing this situation, and it is a bad one, with losing our franchise QB is just moronic and ridiculous in my opinion.

We still win with Anderson in. I'm not sure we can win long term with Hurney who though McClain and Fua would be viable starting defensive tackles.

    • Why? AI already taking jobs, running up power bills, drinking all the water and just bad for the environment but hey lest try to shoehorn another useless way to use it.
    • I'm going rogue in R1 but there's so much confusion around us. Last year, we were going Walker or Williams and caught folks off guard with TMac. The previous year we LOVED Legette and it was no surprise when his name was called. This year, I think we nail three areas that weren't totally addressed in FA.  R1 - Kayden McDonald Full disclosure, I want Thienemann here, but think he goes before 19. Some might see an "overdraft" but McDonald unlocks so many people on our D. Having a DT the caliber of McDonald let's Lloyd, Wallace and the newly drafted Hill flood the offensive backfield. Also opens up Moehrig and our EDGES to eat. Lastly, it also removes all the pressure on DB to be the primary facilitator in the trenches and A'Shawn will be missed. I don't care about Turk. McDonald is the only true DT worth of a R1 grade and Morgan seals up our trenches here w/ a kid from a blue blood school. R2 - Anthony Hill Jr *trade up*  I love JRod, but think a smart team takes him at the end of R1 (Seattle, NE w/ two d-minded coaches). Hill, Jr is a beast and lost in the shuffle with all the Styles/Allen/Rodriguez hype. He and Lloyd with DB and McDonald up front and flanked by Scourton/Phillips is nasty.  R3 - Hecht/Lew/Center du jour Let's stop the madness with ignoring this position in the draft. We need one and should start normalizing the capital invested in our OL with someone on a draft contract. He won't need to start day 1, but I think the right selection will push for starter reps. R4 - Bud Clark Not sure if he's here in R4 where we pick, but would fit the "type" of FS/roamer that we need opposite Moehrig and Ransom. Allows us to run 3-safety looks and really keep teams guessing with personnel packages. R5 - Kendrick Law The kind of WR we need. IDK if he's any different than Horn, Jr or Metchie but Law could be a dart throw that brings a deep threat to our WR corps I'm guessing one of the R5 picks is used to move up in R2 along with a '27 day 3 pick.   Post-draft, I sign Njoku to bring in a vet at TE. I'm also keeping my eyes open for pre-week 1 team cuts for a young CB that we could bring in to maybe plan for Mike Jack's departure next year. Flame away.... I know the McDonald pick will not make people happy.
    • Classic example on what AI is not currently good for.  It will create a baseline of statistics (which are fine but must be used alongside tape and other evals) and partner that with every rumor mongering dips*&$t on the web.
