He did better...  but I'm just saying we have a more established history of blowing 2nd round picks than hitting on them.  You would think we would've hit on more than we have to this point in our history...  but, regardless, I'm happy we have the guys you mentioned who have become great players.

Im wondering what the statistics are for the past 4-5 years of teams hitting on second round picks and those that do not. Frash alluded to the patriots in another thread about them only hitting on Hightower and they ended up trading him. The rest are busts, been cut. I think you would see that more league wide, with just maybe one, MAYBE two in the past five drafts end up being worth anything. Maybe I'm wrong but the draft is such a crapshoot, we are lucky we've been able to hit really fuging well in the grand scheme of things.

Many would tell you that Robinson's play was a direct result of Bottles' inconsistency. As for Landry, he may be the premier slot receiver in the league. Most will tell you that both were excellent values. I'm pretty sure that many would have told you then that they were surer prospects at WR than Ealy was at DE.

But this is useless. Gettleman's gone. Robinson is a Jaguar and Landry a Dolphin, and Ealy a Patriot. In the main forum, we have an Ealy thread, a Remmers thread, and a Ginn thread. I'm going to refocus on the Panthers.

And many would also say that his ONE good year was solely due to the Jags always playing from behind and throwing like crazy in garbage time... It's just like Cecil Shorts.

And Landry is a solid possession receiver, but no more and he'll never be anything more because of physical limitations. He catches a lot of balls, and that's about it. Would he help us? Maybe, maybe not much. Ultimately, I'd rather take a chance on getting another elite DE than a WR with a capped ceiling and who his team doesn't even want to keep past his rookie deal. He's not an electric slot receiver, just a possession guy, which are much easier to find.

Well, I see what you're saying about not wanting to discuss it, but to me it's just football discussion that is absolutely related to our team and our team's past and it's interesting for me to discuss.

Found this quote over on the Pats Board.

Ealy completely embarassed himself tonight. Looked listless and lazy, and got blown off the ball by backup O-linemen 1-on-1 a couple times. I would say he is cut tomorrow so he doesn't waste the coaches' time or take reps from a guy who gives a sh!t.

You know so I met a sorry motherfuger at work that tried to tell me because of his size that trade was a steal " please!" I said he's inconsistent blah blah blah all he Saw is that he's a big dude  The size don't matter if the talent isn't there and it isn't presented consistently.  But I should've known I was talking to a patriots in a Seahawk fan I felt so different about that job after that oh I transferred so bye-bye patriots fan

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
