The Defenders

I'm through 5 or 6 and it's not great but like most Marvel things I very much want to see it through. There's some cool parts and their reluctance to work together, if not expected, is good to see. Also Jessica Jones is still the glue. Her sarcasm and overall skepticism keeps it all entertaining. Sigourney Weaver is supposed to be one of the original monks in Kun Lun? Along with 2 other guys from different continents? Why would they have gone to Kun Lun in the 1800s to be monks? I find it difficult that they what, put an ad on International Craigslist for monks wanted? Really?

tbh, the whole franchise has gone downhill since Daredevil S1, and The Defenders is really just Iron Fist S2.

I thought DD 1, JJ and then DD2 were good. Luke Cage started a little lower and then Iron Fist, I was just watching to finish it off. This Defenders isn't compelling but like the Inhumans show coming...I'll still watch it...because.

couldn't agree more, but a slight tweak: first four episodes of daredevil season 2 were perfect and I thought Jessica Jones was awesome.

talk about contrived, forced plots that didn't feel weighty at all. Man this was really not that good. It had it's moments and wasn't awful but I'm pretty disappointed overall.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, in fact I will die on this hill: superhero films/tv are only as good as the villain is. If the villain isn't good the whole shibang starts to unravel.

This is solid. DD1 - Kingpin was great. JJ - Kilgrave was great. DD2 - Punisher was great. All the rest have weak villains. Well said.

Pretty disappointing.   It was a strong meh.    Like someone pointed out, lame villains.   This is kind of an issue with Marvel all around though.   Their best villains are in the X-men universe or Fantastic Four and they can't use any of those.    DD1 and JJ were so good because those were the two best villains Marvel has put out in anything (movies or tv).

Iron Fist is still, the most terrible part of all this.  He's just so bad.   There's no redeeming quality to his acting and the character.    He drags it all down.    The show just felt rushed too.   We've seen Stick many times in the shows and we give him that little of time for you know?    The show was going to have to be awesome to carry Iron Fist's terrible actor/character, but like others said, it's basically Iron Fist season 2.

The Defenders has it's "wow" moments. It's not great (and all that hype for 8 damn episodes! really!?) but it's not bad either. Finn is still a terrible Iron Fist but at least they seemed to get DD's fight choreographer on board because Finn's action scenes looked 10x better than the Iron Fist series.

Of all the characters, JJ, Madame Gao and DD are the most compelling.  I'm thinking that the Punisher series will kick down the door to save Netflix's stake in this universe.

Edit: Luke Cage is hard to work as a character in modern day mythology.  He's as out of place as Superman because he is so noble intent that it almost makes him a caricature than a person with superpowers.  Colter and his supporting cast have gotten as much mileage as they can with what little they have to work with.

Iron Fist is just.... Luke Skywalker whiny.  Badly written.  Badly acted.  Ugh.  Just some cheezy one-liners away from being Shaq's Steel.
