Those hole in the wall Southern eating holes

Got a buddy coming down to a Panthers game from Canada and he is asking for BBQ or Mexican restaurants. I told him I can find him some good spots but that also the South is where you find that hole in the wall diner or comfort food place.

So along with BBQ and Mexican what are some great secret food spots you know in the CLT. I also told him BBQ isn't a Charlotte thing for the most part.

I thought I would start with Prices chicken coup.

La Unica off South Blvd is legit mexican (I can recommend the tripas tacos, basically fried intestine  )

Prices isn't a bad idea to give a good representation of local southern tradition.

Three Amigos on Central Ave is pretty good..  Nice little dive too....  The last few times I had Price's it sucked so bad I would never get food there again....  I am and East side guy...  The Landmark on Central is really good...  Midwood Smokehouse is pretty good...

Concord/Kannapolis has 3 great Mexican places for dirt cheap. El Amigo, Fiesta Mexicana, Andeles.

 I've been to the one in Kannapolis, I think that's el amigo. I don't think there is such thing as bad mexican.

The Quik Shoppe gas station on the corner of South and East has the best fried chicken in Charlotte. I've been going there for years, way before the hipsters discovered it. You have to get it to go, but it's better than Price's, and it meets your criteria of a hole in the wall.
