So apparently Hurney had a man crush on Kaaya

Jonathan Jones made a comment on Twitter that of course the Panthers picked Kaaya up as Hurney loves him.

JJ would know this from his time spent at Hurney's radio station.

It was not the scouts recommendation to pick him up. It was all Hurney by the looks of it.

So, basically Kaaya is a Hurney draft pick this year.

Let's see how that turns out.

I'll give it sometime to play out before I form a strong opinion.  Pro scouts liked him enough for him to get drafted.  I don't mind the idea of developing a rookie QB draft pick at this point, and honestly this kids strengths are some of Cam's most talked about weaknesses.  I think Kaaya has more potential for high level QB play than someone like Webb or even Anderson at the moment.  I liked what I saw from Gilbert but everyone should agree it would be horrifying if he had to enter the game.

    • Freddie? For this game? Seriously? I don’t get it. Hope we get the best version of Freddie tonight.
    • Cam was very reliant on being one of the best athletes on the field. His athleticism was a huge part of his success. Favre took a beating, sure, but he relied on his arm. Did Cam evolve enough as a passer for that to be his go to rather than his athleticism? Cam’s rookie season was his only above 4k and his MVP was the only season above 30 passing TDs. Josh Allen plays in a similar way, but he has been far more prolific as a passer and should age pretty well if his athleticism starts to wane. I’m not sure how Cam would have faired had his athleticism started to regress.
    • Todd Bowles IS John Fox, essentially. You give him a talented team and he'll manage to not completely screw it up - and may even do well. But the moment his teams face any amount of adversity it all falls apart.
