Panthers @ 49ers - Three Key Matchups

The Carolina Panthers kick off the 2017 NFL season with a west coast game against the San Francisco 49ers. Both teams look to start off the season with a win and a 1-0 record.

The Panthers are coming off one of their biggest offseasons yet, acquiring electric playmakers and adopting a whole new offensive philosophy. Meanwhile, the 49ers are also coming off a decent offseason of their own. They built up a formidable defensive front while adding an offensive genius to spark their offense.

All of this culminates into Sunday’s game, where each team will witness the fruits of their effort. Both teams have a chance to start fresh, unleashing their game plan and weapons for the first time in the NFL.

However, only one team will win. There’s always a victor and a loser in the NFL.

So, what three things should you be watching for this Sunday?

I think we need to watch out for WR Goodwin. He is a big play waiting to happen. He has great speed, so great he went to the olympics for his speed. Worley and Bradberry won't be able to catch him if they aren't able to slow him down.

Also watch out for thier defensive line. They have 3 top 10 picks on their line and they are coming into their prime.

Goodwin getting behind Worley and Adams does worry me.

Yup. I read somewhere that Goodwin had two top 10 fantasy weeks in scoring. He is the 49ers #2 WR where as in buffalo he was much deeper in their depth chart. He could end up having a career year. He's a one trick pony but it's one hell of a trick.

He's quick. That's what makes him deadly.

and with Luke, TD and Shaq behind Star, KK and Co, I don't see how they rush for more than 100 yards

Eh first game without tape always make people look better than they are.

I still have last year embedded, seeing CJ Anderson running all over us with Luke even struggling.

But then again, KK and Star both look like they've reached a whole new level, and I'm sure Wilks is making sure we stay physical and hard.

I can't wait.

    • Sellers is absolutely one to keep an eye on. Could be the next Cam or could be the next Anthony Richardson. Curious to see how he has progressed come this fall.
    • I think Texas could go 0-12 and he would still go #1 based on his name and traits like you say.  But nusselman and sellers may be actually better qbs.    Man if bryce stinks it up this season its looking like a damn good year to swap out qbs.  Sellers highlights are just fuging jaw dropping
    • I mean, the kid comes from a wealthy family. It's not like he needs the money. He has a ton of potential now we get to see what he can do as a starter. Everyone penciling him in as the #1 overall pick is putting the cart way before the horse. It's 5% because of his talent and what he's showing on the field and 95% because his last name is Manning. And if he is what he's hyped to be the Texas coaching staff needs to be answering some tough questions about why the kid wasn't on the field sooner. Ewers was a good college QB but he's definitely not a "keep a future #1 overall pick waiting" type of college QB. Only getting one season out of a top NFL talent because you chose to keep him buried behind a borderline NFL talent is just coaching negligence. Not starting him as a true freshman? Yeah, I get that. But on year two if the kids is what he's hyped to be you gotta wish Ewers well elsewhere and turn the page.
