Let's not overreact...Cam will be fine.

Cam Newton coming over recent shoulder surgery with little to almost no throwing in OTAs, this summer, and only attempted 2 passes in preseason in actual game speed and the media and the world is already freaking out and beginning the stone throws at Newton.  I wasn't the only one concerned with how Cam looked yesterday especially in the first half.  Missed a couple of wide open throws, saw him shake out his shoulder a few times after a pass, and looked uncomfortable.  Newton made some adjustments and looked a lot better in the second half.  Went 4/4 on the last touchdown drive to Jstew.

We all know Cam will be praised as the next HOF when he has a great game and will be called overrated when he is anything less.  It's all good Huddlers we know what our Quarterback can do.  He finished 11th so far this opening weekend with a 87.3 QB rating (not counting Brissett who only attempted 3 passes) that was a better rating than Wilson, Dalton, Brady, Palmer, Mariota, Eli, etc.  From what i saw yesterday and I watched a good chunk of every game yesterday and highlights, EVERY team struggled yesterday maybe minus the Chiefs on Thursday night and the Jags who looked dominate on D.

Some critics will say well Panthers played the 49ers come on!  Maybe so.  But Newton came off shoulder surgery with new weapons he had almost zero time to get down timing with and actual game speed.

It will come together my fellow Panther fans.

Among the weak points yesterday we still have a dominant D and our front 7 looked ferocious.

He definitely had some rust yesterday. Missing Ed Dickson on that wide open touchdown was inexcusable. I think he'll shake it off and get where he needs to be an the home opener next weekend in a game in which we are favored. Cam's game is all about where his confidence is, with the home crowd behind him he'll settle in a little more I think.

Yeah I would have liked to see him hit Dickson on that read...just a bad throw.

The interception was a really nice play by the defender...Cam could have gotten it out sooner but it is what it is, I like the aggressiveness of the throw.

There was a throw over the middle for a first down early on that was right off Benjamin's hands...would like to see our #1 wideout make the play there.

Finishing the day 6/6 was nice...had a series of good balls to finish out the day.

Not worried at all...as he finds his rhythm so will our offense...as others have said, this was basically a preseason game for him.

The good thing is, we shouldn't need him to do anything spectacular against the Bills this Sunday. Will be another game to get some of the rust off before we go into some tough mathups where we will need him to make some big plays.

Via Bill Voth of the team’s official website, Newton was pulled aside for a drug test after the game, and apparently that was enough of a reason to not talk. He’s typically a slow dresser, one of the last players to become available after any game, but he eventually ends up talking.

Newton overcame a rough first half (8-of-19 passing) in his first game, but the Panthers won his first game back after shoulder surgery, so it wasn’t going to be that much of an inquisition. Mostly, it’s a reminder that he does things when he feels like it, because most other players are able to provide a sample in the hour or so between a game ending and the busses rolling out.

For his critics, it will bring back memories of a post-Super Bowl pout, when he mumbled a few answers before walking away. Otherwise, we’ll just have to wait until he gets home and has time to hydrate (and then unhydrate) to see how his surgically repaired shoulder held up.

And oh, by the way, most people correctly point out that Cam was 6 for 6 passing in the 2nd half.  What is missed here is that Cam ended the first half on a FG drive where he was 3 for 3 passing.

So he ended the game, after a rough start to the 1st half, going 9 for 9 passing the ball.

It took him nearly a half. He was 5-of-16 passing early, but a late first-half flurry (completing three passes to set up a field goal) and a perfect (6-of-6) second half left him with some things to be pleased with. It was Newton’s first game action since offseason shoulder surgery, other than his two preseason passes.

(P.S. As shown above, Gantt can be a good reporter if he'd just shut his trap and keep his opinions to himself.)

I have a love/hate relationship with Gantt.

He knows what he's doing.

My concern  with Newton is his  throwing into double coverage

in year 7, he should be seeing the field better.

in year 7, he is what he is.

As we say in the stands, 'Good Cam, Bad Cam', a roller coaster ride, start to finish.

Every  time he drops back, we hold our collective breath.

is it him, Shula, the receivers, who knows
