Parking - South Gate

We have PSLs near the South Gate but always end up parking on Trade Street since it's $20 and a quick 5 minutes to pop on I-77.  The walk isn't usually too bad for us and the kids, though they do get tired towards the end.  We're all headed to the game on Thursday for the kids' first night game and I was hoping to find a better parking location nearer to the South side of the stadium, but have never parked over there before.

Is there anywhere you'd recommend us parking so we can get home (Matthews) a bit quicker rather than walking with the crowds all the way to the other side of the stadium out the North gate and then all the way down to Trade?  We don't tailgate if that matters.  I don't mind paying $30 or $40 for a one-time parking, but don't want to pay a $50+ premium just to be in a decent tailgating lot.

I saw that site, I guess my issues are (A) having never parked in that area, I don't have a good feel for how long it takes to walk to/from the stadium vs our normal walk to Trade, (B) ease of getting out of the city after the game, and (C) general feel for the lot(s) in terms of kid-friendly, heavy tailgaters, etc.

Thanks all.  It sounds like South mint isn't too bad.  Couple more follow-ups on it:  Do you usually pre-pay parking or just pull into a lot?  If you just pull in, do they fill up quick?  Lastly, is it safe to walk back at night with the kids?  Walking up Graham is usually pretty safe since half the street is blocked off but google maps shows Mint is a bit narrower with narrower sidewalks.

I truly appreciate all the quick responses.  Our girls are very much looking forward to their first night game!

not on the south side, but dilworth grille has free parking and free shuttles to the stadium. i park there every week and walk the mile to the stadium (my experience is it is quicker to walk than sit in the traffic on the shuttle). right next to I277. FREE!

Try parking parnda's website.  I used to part on W. Summit.  AFter the game, you can sneak onto the john belk, hang a u turn, and be on 77 in about a minute from your parking spot.    For thursday, i'm parking on morehead,  just west of 77.  parked there for the Bills game and it's not a bad walk.  down hill on the way home.

There's lots of folks on S Mint who will tailgate throughout the entire game, so I wouldn't worry about safety, there's plenty of people around.

    • Not many are talking about this player. He played well as a rookie last year. If he refines his blocking, continues studying film, and keeps working hard, I can see him being the next Greg Olsen. I’m expecting 55 catches, 700 yards, 4 TDs this season.
    • I'm not a Bryce hater and I would 100% move on.  Especially looking at how the upcoming qb draft looks on paper.  Hopefully he continues to improve but if in 3 seasons you're still chasing average season numbers then he's not going to be the guy.  You've just got to keep taking swings until you hit.  Average qbs without any elite physical traits cant get it done anymore.  So this year Hopefully he continues to develop and is above average statistically.
    • Meltdowns???? He was pulled by Canales because he wasn't executing the game plan after 2 games into the season so he could watch Dalton execute the offense and show Bryce the windows available in the NFL, how to push the ball down the field and how to step up and move around when blitzed. When Young came back 5 games later he clearly watched and improved. Enough he was named the future starter. He doesn't have a history of  meltdowns nor is there any reason to assume he will have one. From what I have read he is mentally strong and emotional stable. He may have bad games down the road, everyone does. But this is all a learning experience for him and so far he seems to be making progress. I can understand being hesitant on anything Panthers, but Young has surprisingly been able to gain his confidence after a disastrous start. You aren't alone in being cautious but I think he is the future. I thought he was too small and too short to succeed in the NFL. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised last year and am optimistic about the offense for the first time since Wilks and Dalton were decent.
