Replay Officials

It did matter.  Cost us a time out.  Imo they should always call touchdown when there is any question.  Then neither team has to waste a challenge and potential timeout.

True. Forgot we had to initiate that challenge. Definitely agree that the refs should err on the side of the automatically reviewed call or the call that is challengable when there's any doubt. Think it may have been a TD, call it a TD. Not sure if that QB's arm was coming forward, call it a fumble.

Just look at the three pics that have been posted. Piece them together. It's impossible to argue that it's NOT a TD.

If there was a view from the back of the endzone looking down the sideline, that view could be used to determine exactly where the ball is in relationship to the sideline as he is in the air. Without that view, you cannot argue 100% either way.

There's just no way you can legitimately argue that ball wasn't inside the pylon and across the goalline before his foot came down out of bounds. It's just clear as damn day.

So I think this is an interesting topic to discuss. What do you guys think of how the NFL have done with replays at this point of the season

I think they still can't seem to get their poo together myself. Taking our game as an example, Cam's Superman dive that was ruled down on the line. By all accounts of the replay it showed that the ball crossed the line before any part of his body touched out and as a result should have been reversed to a TD. As we all know the officials ended up letting the play stand citing "Not enough evidence to over call the ruling on the field.". A bunch of BS personally but whatever we scored the next play. Compare that with what happened in the Jets vs. Patriots game where the runner briefly has the ball come loose but secures it before going out for what is ruled as a TD. The replay officials go back and look at this and from all replays shown there was no clear evidence to overturn the TD however they end up ruling it a fumble out of the end zone and as a result a touch back and Patriots ball. I know by all means every replay is different but jeez these guys need to be more consistent with their rulings. If there was no evidence on our call then by all means there should have been no evidence on the Jet's call as well.

I've been thinking for years, 'why don't they just do as the NCAA'. Send it to a replay official. They already have a central office looking at it. Just give them the A thoritay!

It's not what about I can argue, it's about what I can prove. And I can't prove nor can you that it was inside the pylon and within the field of play.

Cam's arm length is 33.75 inches.

From the video, I was able to determine that his left foot and left hand hit the ground almost simultaneously.   His left hand is at the half yard line.  His body is turned a slight 30 degrees.  With that slight turn of the body, we'll assume on the safe side and say his right arm is only reaching out 22 inches towards the goalline.  Since his left arm is at the half yard line, he would only have to reach out 18 inches to cross the plane.  Therefore, it is a touchdown.

    • Mike Davis is like yeah, why would these coaches expect me to watch film on our next opponent if I'm playing good.  Yeah, I really don't pay attention to a lot of stuff around me if I'm doing good.   also Mike Davis, how dare they give all the reps to CMC.  from just listening to that interview, I think Mike Davis likely was often in Mike Davis' way and he can't comprehend that aspect.  Even his story of why he hated people.....was weird.  He hated Steve Spurrier because Spurrier was like hey Mike, Marcus Lattimore left...and we need you to step up into that role/void and be more for us.   And Mike Davis was like, can you believe that motha trucka!! Nah Steve.  Just give me the ball and leave me alone (paraphrasing it all obviously but that was the gist).
    • Unless he's 1,000%, just sit him an extra week at this point to let him get his legs back under him. I want to see him out there as much as the next guy, but this was a serious thing and I'd rather wait an extra week than put him out one day too early and risk something going wrong, play the long game for once.
    • God, these posts are really starting to piss me off If we're relying on Moore, Idzik, and Canales to carry that weight, then we're royally screwing over our young WR room.  It's not that those guys can't help with some of it, but these young promising WRs are going to miss out on a lot of learning that can only be provided by the vets on the team.   You do realize that coaches spend ZERO time in the locker room, right?   They are only in there just before games and at halftime, but the rest of the week, they have their own locker room, they only spend time with the players on the field and in the film room.  There is soooooo much time that you're leaving unaccounted for where players are working together to get better. Players are constantly talking about their game and how they can improve while they're in the locker room.  If you think career long special teamer David Moore is going to be able to carry that water in the locker room, then you're sorely and woefully mistaken. Even beyond that, if a coach pulls a player aside to give advice between series, that still means there are 4-5 other WRs who aren't getting individual advice, where that's normally a time a vet like Thielen is going over with them what he's seeing out there and how they can do X, Y, or Z to do A, B, or C better on the next drive.
