Gettleman left us with one last “FU” this offseason

Really goes back to what many of us were saying right after Gettleman was fired. Both Hurney and Gettleman weren't that good.

Im hoping we can finally get a good GM in here, but I doubt that. I doubt it because you still have JR running this team. Many of us have said for years that he is, if not the problem, one of the main issues that holds this team back.

Hurney was a solid GM. Taking Cam, trading for Olsen, pciking Luke, draft Munnerlyn in like the 6th round.

His problem was signing big contracts when they were in that weird CBA thing.

Gettleman wasted the entire 2016 NFL draft trying to replace Josh Norman and paid way too much $$$ to Matt Kalil.

I think Hurney was about average, or slightly below average. The things many people put on Hurney, as far as the bad, I don't put on him. The big contracts he handed out where more of a JR thing imo. JR deserves the blame for that. Another downside to Hurney, imo, is complacency easily finds it way into the locker room.

Gettleman was average to me, as well. Average to slightly below average. Despite what his admirers think, his attitude and the way he treated players was toxic and had the potential to really get bad. To add on to that, he made quite a few questionable roster moves that hurt the team. I don't care what anyone says, but going from 15-1 to 6-10 is unacceptable, just like unfranchising Norman was an overreaction that played a part in us having a terrible season.

I just want Carolina to get a GM that maybe combines both of the best qualities Hurney and Gettleman have/had. I doubt it, but I'm hoping that happens. JR should've fired Gettleman quicker, so we could've kept Beane.

It doesn't matter what CMC or any running back does,if there are two defenders in the backfield immediately after the ball is snapped. Are you guys watching the games?

And its not just talent, its scheme. Opposing teams KNOW what we are doing. Our own coaches are saying time and time again "Its execution, not play calling". Our coaching staff is basically expecting our players to just will their way out there. Its the exact same scheme since 2013. Its embarrassing and the players are getting their poo kicked in because of this.

Lol at all the people bringing up Gettleman right now. Remember that Gettleman was let go before training camp which means that he had nothing to do with the final roster for this team. We went through training camp with Hurney at the GM position. That means that he was responsible for cutting down the team and then for post training camp free agency as well. Is Gettleman guilt free...no most certainly not but what is on the field right now is just as much Hurney since he has done very little to help the same things you people are bashing Gettleman for. Oh and for the people talking poo about CMC, he is an amazing player but nobody could run the ball efficiently behind the Oline we have right now with the terribly predictable play calling from Shula.

Ironically all the pro bowl players from the 2015 team were Hurney guys

I was always impressed with how he drafted Short and Turner after he'd been fired, then drafted Coleman and Tolbert when he ninja GM'ed for other teams.

What a great guy, that Hurney.

    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
