Honestly when you put it like that, I wish I had a princess bride gif of you keep saying that word but I don't think you know what it means,.. 7/15 decent picks? Charles Johnson is big money haha.

wharton, Witherspoon Charles Johnson, those were home run 3 round picks. Brandon Lafell was not bad, Dan Connor was good minus the concussions,  Godfrey was decent,  and so was James Anderson who had one of the best all time, he got jacked up clips at the bucs

so 50%? Not bad.

Isn't he here to help us find a new GM I know we joke a lot but isn't that his title interim who's helping us find the next gm nothing else or does he have a chance to do more rewarding I can see Pep  getting a huge one year extension if Marty runs the show

Interims don't trade the #1 WR on the roster. Many of us suspected that this was whole interim thing was a farce to begin with and this move all but confirms that suspicion.

It's been confirmed before that having him be the permanent GM is an option.

So basically, the guy who is in charge of deciding who the next GM will be is a candidate for the position himself.

That's an arrangement that takes stupidity to new heights..

The issue is that we aren't comparing his third round success rate to other third round picks. We're comparing his third round success rate to our starting WR on a team that doesn't really have a great WR corps. That comparison doesn't look so great...

Oh His receiver picks were terrible. And cutting Keyshawn when we drafted Dwayne Jarrett has to go down as one of his dumbest. Keyshawn may have fixed Dwayne on and off the field and maybe he wouldn't have been a waste of sperm,...

what was the other little dude he drafted that year too? Lasted like 2 years?

brandon lafell was probably the closest thing to a success Marty had,.. and he was below average at best.

Marty passed on Keenan Allen when he fell to the 3rd round. Should be shot just for that alone! Im still pissed about it. He was my pick that year,...passed on Alshon Jeffrey too,.. bastard.

Not really surprising when your owner who has never even fired a coach mid season fires the best GM in Panthers history right before the season. I have no idea what JRs plan is but it's not winning and if I was a PSL owner my stomach would be churning.

Isn't it obvious what his plan is? The man runs a BUSINESS. As long as people are buying PSL's, and he can field a team JUST good enough to get people interested then the ticket sales go on...concessions go on, and the money keeps flowing!

If we played to a stadium barely full on a regular basis, there might be some incentive to invest and actually TRY to win. But if he can make a good amount of profit with minimal effort then why wouldn't he? Anyone that runs a business understand this. A nice steady flow of income is far better than sporadic "bursts" of income.

Terrell McClain has actually turned into a really good player. Sometimes it just takes longer for the light to turn on. Just like Mathis.

After 2007 the draft was basically all Hurney; Fox had been forced out.

Really the worst pick there was Corvey Irvin. I mean I have no idea what Hurney saw in that guy. I watched his entire career at UGA and had never heard of him

It's getting there. This man didn't mind a empty stadium in 10 either.

This is what concerns me about Hurney. He doesn't have a scouting background (unlike Gettleman). He did a good job with his 1st round choices, and a pretty good number on his 2nd round picks. After that, you can only shake your head at some of his picks and trades decisions on draft day

Beane would have been the ideal GM. Not only is he smart, but he seems to have an eye for talent. Look at the moves he's made in Buffalo. That's isn't a very talented team from top to bottom but he's got them a 5-2 and in the thick of the playoff hunt.

Now with Beane and Gettleman gone, do we even have a competent scout in the personnel department in Carolina?

    • I like Jaycee a lot and appreciate his leadership but to say he's above Ramsey right now is based on hopium let's be realistic. He's got a great deal to prove this season. I’m hoping to see that he firmly establishes himself amongst his peers.
    • It’s amazing how simple it is. When you are winning 2-7 games for 7 straight years, you’d think people would understand that just drafting some starters isn’t poo unless they are above average NFL starters. Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase started their rookie years like Legette did so we got an elite WR in the 2024 draft. Luke was a rookie starter just like Wallace. Damn we basically got a Kuechly and Jefferson last year. Bravo Dan Morgan!!!
    • I didn’t even say they would be starters. I don’t think Legette will be and Coker was not drafted. Coker chose to sign with us because our WR room gave him a chance to start even though we drafted a guy in the 1st. That should tell you something when Coker chose to come to Carolina even after we took Legette. We drafted and signed guys to potentially replace Sanders, who isn’t a starter yet over Tremble) and Wallace. Go look at our other drafts since Rhule. We had tons of rookie contribution from all of our recent classes. Why, because our overall talent sucked and we needed bodies. Go look at PFR. Here’s some of our players who “started” for a year: TMJ, Mingo, BC, Ian Thomas, Jermaine Carter, Dennis Daley, YGM and Roy. That’s what Legette and Wallace are right now although unless TMac bombs, Legette has kind of already lost his spot. We’ve had shitty drafts since 2018 and every single one has contributed at least two guys who’ve started so 2024 is tied for last right now and we just had a draft where we took 3 more players who play the same position as 3 of our top 4 picks in 2024 but somehow I’m saying that the 2024 draft class is good? Nope, the 2024 draft class was bad and our team is still in the low enough talent quadrant that lots of rookie contribute in our holes until we replace them. Been the same story since 2018 and accelerated as the old solid vets retired/move on.
