Ron royally wet the bed by being loyal to Shula at the detriment of the team. 

You got to go out and get the best OC you can in that situation. 

Shula had already had his chance at OC and failed in the past.

Btw if I had to choose, I probably feel better with Rivera choosing OC than JR choosing another coach. That's not saying much though. At least Rivera did consider Hue Jackson and Norv Turner at some point. The '13 and '15 season has clouded his judgement. Hopefully next offseason he realizes a change needs to be made. I'm not counting on it though.
