Since apparently nobody understands football after a loss, let's break down what exactly went wrong today as I saw it.

- Receivers are not getting separation consistently. One play out of 10 is not enough. Now, that's not to say EVERY receiver that starts on every roster around the league gets separation on every play. The elite ones do, but we all know that we do not have an elite receiver on the roster (and haven't since Smitty). Watch the plays again. Go back and rewatch the game. If you access to the coaches film, watch that. Whatever you gotta do. Cam is not out there missing these wide open receivers or throwing bad balls. Every route is covered OR he doesn't have time to actually make a legit effort to hit it. He misses some, but so does every other QB in the league. His true misses are no worse than any other QB. He just doesn't have the luxury of heaving up bombs down the middle of the field to wide open targets like a lot of other QBs have. Matt Ryan was hitting guys in space all day, not threading needles. Every other QB this season has done this to us to some capacity. Why are we not getting the same sort of production? Because we're not seeing wide open targets. This is a lot to do with Shula, and a good bit to do with having only 1 legit starting WR on our current roster as it sits because Byrd and Samuel got hurt. Bersin got the only good separation all day. Bersin. Sunshine. This is a problem. It's mostly scheme, but talent is also part of it.

- OL decides to not block randomly. One minute, they do great. Early in the game, I thought our run game looked OK. Nothing to write home about, but 4+ yards on a lot of the carries and blocks held up so CMC or whoever else had the ball could get to the second level a little bit. Then, they fold and start leaking inside and that leads to runs going absolutely nowhere. Then there is the pass protection. One minute, Cam has plenty of time. Goes through his reads and is able to pull down and run (because receivers are not open) and things are OK. The next minute, Cam is getting hit within 3 seconds because Amini Silatolu is a turnstile at least once per series.

- Shula is still the absolute worst. More than one drive, we go through an entire set of downs without a single run. Not one. Pass plays constantly have guys running routes VERY close to each other. Now, occasionally miscommunication happens and somebody gets confused. I get that. We have Clay and Bersin on the field, guys who don't get much playing time. I get that. However, this has been a problem in EVERY game on more than one or two or three occasions per game. This comes down to play design and the fact that Shula does not understand how to build a passing concept whatsoever. This is evident in the fact that we consistently call plays where Cam has no hope of converting on 3rd and longer than 5 yards.

- Cam misreads. There are certain throws that I think Cam just wants to make a play and thinks he can make the throw. He cannot. Nobody can. Or, if it were completed, it would've been purely by chance. This is partly due to Shula and receivers not getting enough separation, forcing Cam to have to force throws just to complete a pass at all. Then you have the read option, which most know that I love. But for somebody who has run the read option since high school, Cam screws the read up at least once per game. Now, this is bound to happen, he's human and the option is easy to screw up. However, there was one run that if CAP had gotten the handoff, he was gone for at least 10-15 yards. Cam stares at his read as he DOESN'T move at all, which is an absolute give every single time. If it was  designed QB keeper from the draw, that is dumb because why are you designing a predetermined keeper that looks like option? It doesn't serve you well because you're leaving a guy unblocked DIRECTLY in front of Cam. But it is Shula so while it wouldn't make sense to actually design that play, it would make since for Shula to design that play.

Those are the big ones. That is why we look bad. It wasn't because of Stew being out, it wasn't because CMC is bad or worse than Kamara (they're basically the same player, CMC is just in a trash system), it wasn't because Cam has regressed (he hasn't, he just doesn't have the luxury of open receivers so any throw completed is virtually perfect in comparison to what the average QB would do in the same situation). These are the facts. Until, at the very least, we have a receiver that is elite (Byrd COULD become this) and can get separation more times than not, this is what Cam will look like. Without Cam, this team is out of the playoffs a month ago, if not sooner than that.

Get ready for the playoffs. We're either going to shock the world or get absolutely thumped for the third time by a divisional opponent to cement our pitiful season of under-performing and succeeding in spite of it  because we have a generational talent on either side of the ball.

I'm going to go with we are going to get thumped for a third time.  This season will be stomped out of its misery and we need to hope that this offseason we finally address the holes in our roster that Gettleman decided to ignore for 4 seasons.

Those things you mentioned - mainly WR separation, OL blocking, and Shula - are not just anomalies that were out of the blue today.  We no doubt played a team hungrier than we were, but those flaws are consistent and will send this team packing after one playoff game.

And is the same reason we always lose when we lose and will continue to be that reason for the foreseeable future.

We ain't losing if we sucked so bad we wouldn't be 11-5.

You do it takes a game or 2 fore the offense to adjust with loss of perssonell.

Having Turner back will be huge.

A very important key. With our receivers, we have to force the run I'm sorry and with our RB's not Cam. We have Alex Armah, use him. Play-action is non-existent. It's unfortunate our playoff game is against a rival who as you see we struggle against offensively and the main reason is they know our offense. Cant count on Shula to gameplan properly against Saints D. Like Cam said, it's going to come down to execution and let's pray ours is better than theirs.

We’ll beat 90% of the league if we use the same offensive game plan as we used against the Vikings, with minor tweaks every week. Shula have too many different game plans weekly. Teams fear Cam booting out the back door under center. Develop a whole offense/game plan with that in mind. To include playaction passes and power run plays.

    • Varying degrees all around but it starts at the top. That is where the buck stops. It has been 8 years of stupid, long before Morgan came back. Or Tillis was hired. Made it to the top of stupid mountain in 2023. Stayed in stupid limbo for a while, now we are prepping to scale the next mountain. In this case, I like those guys’ roster building better than what we have had so I am okay with them as our current pawns in the game of Bryce.
    • Don't let me gas him up too much, but I hear this and that...... I seen a wide body man with a quick burst, that's able to shed blocks and if extends his long arms its over. He tore up the OL in the senior, you seen about 10 plays and the dog walking OLman. There's other plays of him doing the same, just have to deal with fetus talking over the plays. Plus there's this-  https://x.com/PFF_College/status/2018385471068332410?lang=en     I hope he's ready, cause Id like to see him starting and doing his thang with dbrown, nic, and Phillips.
    • I mean there is relevance to that. But I think much of it has to do with the fact that he is clearly likeable. But does that translate to a coach taking his position to the next level like those that have had staying power for many years like Spoelstra? And not for nothing but does how much someone is liked even matter? Across leagues with the Panthers Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney were universally well liked by players. Dave Canales is very well liked. I say you are what your record says. And the record says you got your ass handed to you by a fellow expansion team in the Magic in a game that was over at halftime and that same team went toe to toe with our nemesis who has been handing us L's for over a year now. And if Bam doesn't get his leg swept by LaMelo do we even get past the Heat? Again. It just all boils down to personal standards. I think newer and younger fans will love this. I just want to actually win a real playoff game fam 🤷‍♂️
