Selling out to stop the run, instead of the pass

Just now, Johnny Rockets said:

Teams started started stacking the box over the past 6 games and held them to under 100 yds rushing each time. In that span they went 3-3.

Not a crazy strategy...gotta pick your poison against them.

It’s exactly what Minnesota will do and they actually have the corner tandem (as does Atlanta) to slow that offense down.

Minnesota wins next week if Keenum doesn’t turn it over. Just my opinion.

That was the smart play, goal of a defense is to take away what a team does best and we did. The thing that went wrong was we couldn't get pressure on Brees. Look, the dude is a future hall of famer for a reason, he was hitting passes that there is literally no defense for. At the end, defense gave us an opportunity to win the game which is all you can ask for.

This is a very newbish thing to ask but why exactly is it not letting me create a thread? It isn't highlighted to let me click on it. I've been on the huddle almost every day since 2010 and would like to start making threads, so if anyone could help me out it would be appreciated, thanks.

Brees made some unbelievable throws in this game. Simple as that. The secondary didn't play awful, and we sold out to stop the run and did a good job.

Difference was lack of offensive execution in the red zone in the 1st half. Cam played his ass off, and we had a shot at the end.

The interception that wasn't and the bs intentional grounding certainly sucked too.

I'm disappointed but the team gave it their all. The Saints are just overall a better team than we were this year.

It has been a fun season. We weren't going to win a SB with our receivers, but Cam proved himself again to be one of the best QBs in the game.

Hope we can get back to the playoffs next year

dumbass op/thread is dumbass

That's exactly what they should have done and needed to do and we could have won the game with this strategy of poo trash WR rando fuger #6 could catch and if Gano didn't choke on a 25 yard FG.

Or if the refs didn't call a bs intentional grounding call, or if Adams just slaps the ball down to give us more time and the ball near midfield instead of the 31.

So many things other than a good defensive strategy cost us the game. You didn't even bring up all the poo tackles ......nothing wrong with stopping the run but having the corners so far back woulda been a legit point to bring up.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
