Am I overreacting to say we need an entire secondary change?

Perhaps I haven't noticed honestly. I always see/hear Bradberry's name in run support(like last for example).

Beadberry played worse than Worley to me. Saints game the guy he was covering was always open ..playing 5 yes off..never contest the wr.

Bradberry had some fugups yesterday but I still think he’s a more than adequate CB. Secondaries are super codependent, maybe second only to OL in that regard. When everyone around a CB sucks, that CB is gonna have to do more to make up for it, and will get caught out of position or something more because of it.

When Gunter comes in for the injured Worley and looks better than the entire secondary in 2 plays, then I would say no, you are not overreacting...

Funny but I could put in my texts during the game, totally agree.

Gunter came to play, all but shut Ginn down when he was in, I believe it’s why Bradbury played tighter on Thomas and the front 7 really started getting to Brees.

This is part of the need for speed that Hurney was talking about.  The one common link between all of our DB's is that none of them are blazers or particularly quick and athletic.  We really need a FS that can go sideline to sideline.

I also agree that Wilks' scheme did our secondary no favors.  It put them on an island far too often.  It really highlighted our lack of speed and athleticism back there.  We don't need an overhaul, but we do need an infusion of speed, along with a more balanced defensive scheme.

I honestly think we need to go into next year with a bunch of competitions in camp. I'd love to see us have just straight up open competitions in the WR corps and secondary in TC this summer. Nothing given that is not earned. We really don't have anyone in those units who has done anything to definitively lay claim to deserving to have any particular role handed to them on a silver platter.

Bradberry had a sophmore slump and it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Worley was inconsistent. These guys deserve and will get one more year I bet.

We desperately need to upgrade the safety position with young athletic talent. We need another Luke back there.

We need a saftey in the top 2 rounds.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
