Why doesn't anyone include Steve Smith in their top 10 WR lists?

and the one name that always gets me is when people include Larry Fitzgerald.

Larry Fitzgerald has more receptions, receiving yards, and receiving TDs in 14 years than Steve Smith had in 16 years.

If you're going to try to make a point, at make an effort not to use bad examples.

I really don't see the point in a dick fight between Steve and Fitzgerald, they're both generational talents and should be first ballot hall of famers. They're also night and day in terms of playstyles, there's things Smitty can do that Fitz can't and vice versa. However what can't be understated for either is how much they've meant to their teams and managing to be the life and soul of their respective franchises at WR was, and still is, very hard to do.

Smith didn’t play WR his rookie year and broke his leg in 04.

Anyone who thinks Fitzgerald was better than smith, doesn't have eyes. You use the eye test, there's no way you can say Fitz was better. Its very frustrating to me that anyone would say otherwise because its plain as day. Fitz just was never as talented.

He is better than Smith and way more consistent. He is also a better team member.

So what you're telling me then is that 1. Smith wasn't good enough as a rookie to play and 2. Fitzgerald has more receptions, yards, and TDs in basically the same number of years as Smith?

I would take Steve over almost  every receiver ever. Theirs a stat on yards and catches per pass attempts and Steve laps the field. Only Art Monk is ahead of him

Fitz is good, but it’s mainly longevity. He’s made one all-pro team in his entire career, even though he’s played in a pass first offense with decent QB’s the majority of it. I would take Smith and Andre Johnson over him

As far as Fitz, he deserves all the credit he gets. Guy is a baller and has the best hands in football. Best WR in playoff history, Top 3 in receptions, one of the best blocking WRs ever, 10 time pro bowler, never misses games and has done all that while playing with something around 16 different QBs! There is nothing a rational person could argue against him being one of the best in history.

And he did all that while going to the University of Phoenix .

What I’m saying is that he wasn’t drafted to play a WR. He was drafted to be a PR if you were around when he first came here. So he lost snaps in addition to the year he was out. Had the had those opportunities he’d have more stats.
