Kevin Dodd

"Titans sources say that they fear that defensive end Kevin Dodd was a wasted pick by general manager Jon Robinson. They like Dodd as a player, teammate and worker, but they feel that Dodd is a square peg in a round hole in Tennessee. Dodd is a 4-3 defensive end and is a misfit in the Titans' 3-4 scheme. He has one sack and 12 tackles after 17 games. Unfortunately for Dodd, new head coach Mike Vrabel has a 3-4 background and Tennessee is expected to stick with that defense.

The slim hope for salvaging Dodd is that Vrabel and the Texans moved Jadeveon Clowney around from playing outside linebacker to defensive end a lot over the past two years because of the injuries to J.J. Watt. Clowney even lined up as an inside linebacker or defensive tackle at times. Perhaps Vrabel could resurrect Dodd by using him as an undersized five-technique 3-4 defensive end. Right now, Tennessee staffers fear that Robinson wasted the 33rd pick of the 2016 NFL Draft on Dodd."

Edge rusher class is supposedly weak. Dodd is cheap and young.  Would you make a trade for Dodd? What round pick would you be willing to part with for him?

This is the kind of move that good teams do.  I would do this--for a starter, he could lose 10 lbs here, making him faster.  I would offer our fifth and a seventh...and Russell Sheperd. (joke).

does he fit their scheme?

Would probably fit their 34 OLB better at the moment than our 43 DE

Probably not a great fit for either at the moment but as I think we are trying to get him to bulk up, not sure he can keep the weight on, but maybe the offseason has done him some good

    • Such a dumb pick and most of us knew it Ladd would’ve been the perfect match with Bryce But instead they draft XL to fill the void at the X spot because we had a 34 year old Adam Thielen. Then a year later we draft a real X WR and move XL inside where he has absolutely no business being for a list of reasons
    • My logic was hopefully a new HC would have a LOT quicker hook for Bryce. But, that is assuming they would even be allowed. I guess that's a call to the owner's box for permission.
    • I’m not overly defending the pick. I was team Stroud by a country mile but I also knew what to expect as far as ceiling goes with Bryce  I had concerns with Bryce’s arm strength and size. Neither seem to overly be an issue. He’s proven to throw with enough anticipation that he makes up for a lack of velocity. I was worried about the way he played in college not translating to the league. Spending 8 seconds behind LOS. I did also think it would take Young a few years for him to reach his full potential. I also think he’s too smart and accurate to flat out bust which all of seems to be pretty accurate Bryce is someone you can absolutely win with. No one thought he’d be the type to carry a well below average supporting cast to a Super Bowl. He’s fully capable of giving you those 4-5 special plays a game that help your team win. And then you have those rare times where he’s the reason you win like in Atlanta.  All good teams have more than just a QB.  Even the teams that are winning this year all have a lot more than what we have. Supporting cast/defense… more than what we have  As far as Morgan goes I 100% agree. Fwiw he was legit team Bryce during the draft process. I know that for a fact. Last years draft is a complete write off. This past draft still up for debate. TMac and Scourton look solid. I can’t remember the last time I saw Princely win a rep and I’m being honest. Ransom has a little value. I think ETN is a nice insurance add. Evans could be a TE2.    I think this offseason Morgan will get aggressive with trying to land a pass rusher. Whether that’s a trade for Crosby, signing Hendrickson, it’s going to be top priority. We need a ILB. I really like Kaden Ellis. Sonny Styles should be in our draft range. We also need a tight end and it would be interesting to see this offseason with Kenyon Sadiq
