Bucky Brooks Has the Panthers Taking Christian Kirk in His First Mock Draft

I don't know exactly what to make of Kirk.  I don't necessarily think that he's a sure-fire first rounder.  He was primarily used in the slot, so he's going to have to bone up on the total route tree.  We have Samuel who is s similar type of receiver (if not even a bit more versatile).  And, like Samuel,  he allows the ball into his body a bit more than I'd like, but drops apparently aren't an issue.

I just wonder how he'll handle the press at the line,  or if his short are quickness will be too much for CBs to effectively jam him at the line.  It's that quickness and speed that is the X-factor with this kid.

He's definitely going to have to develop,  but so far I've seen people say that he could work his way into being Hilton, Cooks or even OBJ at his ceiling.  You never know though.  As always we'll have to trust our FO.  Like in CMC's case, whom I thought was a true second rounder,  if you want him you may have to take him in the first.

Backend of the 1st rd with the 24th pick.

If he can stretch the field from the outside or deep post like Ginn then Curtis can be freed up in the slot. This would really help the run game out.

Healthy Funchess, Kirk, Healthy Curtis and Healthy Byrd can do some damage through the air.

I just do not see a route in FA with our little salary cap.

I like Moncrief as a TD machine. Most of the FA WR will command a minimum of 5 Mill to 8 Mill.

This offseason has more ? than answers.

Would have to come via trade.

Mike Wallace can do Ginn job and won't cost a arm and legg.. Moncerif, John and Jaron Brown, Paul Richardson, Kendall Wright,  and Jordan Matthew's may all be available and day one give you experience and NFL production..

I like the Idea of Wallace and Moncrief.  Wallace will be 32 heading into next season so he wont be expensive.. We are in dire need of a veteran deep threat and Wallace is exactly that.

Now this is a good plan and smart move..

You sign a older vet like Wallace and than maybe draft a WR in later rounds.. 3rd  thru 6th .. So you get your developmental project and young deep threat.. (Samuels, Byrd, draft pick) ..While haveing a vet and deep threat guy day one... Also Wallace is still forcing teams to put their number 1 CB on him.. Which will help the rest of the corp..

WRs projected to go after 1st round I like : Anthony Miller, Michael Gallup, Desean Hamilton, Deon Cain,  Dante Pettis, James Washington . I could see us trading up in the 2nd round like we did with Funchess to grab Miller, Washington, or Cain since we have that extra 3rd rounder. or if one of them drops to the 3rd we might give up both 3rds and the 6th or something to get a WR.

Defense 1st 2 rounds offense later .. Get Cam a vet weapon in FA.  I like..

DE and Saftey?

1ST ROUND DE are getting thin .. We might not be in range for 1.. Safties seem like they are falling to us now.. Of course that could change.. But i would look at safeties prospects in the 1st a DE prospect in the 2nd and maybe a TE and guard in the 3rd..

Draft a legion of boom part 2 and then get FA wide receivers. For real.

I keep saying no more what if’s and projects for Cam, get the man some veteran help.

whats New England do for Brady? They go get amendolas and Cooks and Randy Moss and others.

trade for Josh Gordon and get a Mike Wallace.

christian Kirk if he’s available at our pick,... i like his highlights,.. really but I’d rather shut down the Chunk plays that were killing us late in the season.

    • Well, everyone is a critic.  not much meat on the bone here in analysis but if the team needs motivation … lol   I have also heard a lot of talking head or two say that ‘Young is not in the same class as most of these teams and that in 12 of the 17 games he is the lesser QB   BR write up below  2025 record: 8-9 Last season, the Carolina Panthers made the playoffs for the first time since 2017. They won the division. Bryce Young made strides, throwing for 3,011 yards, 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions with a 63.6 percent completion rate. Wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan won the 2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year award. In free agency, the Panthers signed edge-rusher Jaelan Phillips and linebacker Devin Lloyd to bolster their middling defense. Carolina can win with complementary football if the offense continues to trend in the right direction. In 2026, Carolina will play the AFC North and NFC North on a first-place schedule, which includes matchups against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, and the Seattle Seahawks. The club will have a much tougher 17-game slate than it had last year, which may lead to regression. The Panthers aren't on the same level as the league's top teams. We'll see the gap between them and division-winning clubs from the previous season. 2026 projection: 6-11
    • If someone key is hurt and your bye week helps you by not forcing you to play without them, it is at a good time.  No way to know about that ahead of time.   I would concede that with 17 games and let’s say you are playoff bound, you would love to have it late
    • Hate it for him personally and hope he recovers well. But honestly, reaching an injury settlement and moving on would probably be a best case scenario for the Panthers. This signing always felt like a desperate knee-jerk reaction to losing out on Milton Williams. Williams was a logical scheme fit while Wharton just wasn't. He's best used as a rotational interior pass rushing specialist in an even front. He's way too small to play the nose in a 3-4 and he lacks the length and juice to play the end. Healthy he's a nice roster piece in the right scheme at the right price but we overpaid him to play him in the wrong scheme. The signing just never made any sense to me and I said so at the time.
