I think the NFL’s biggest issue is there isn’t a Manning v. Brady match-up anymore, in fact there isn’t anything close too it. I think it’s going to be a few years before we see something like that again.

there are no WOW factor mush watch games in the NFL right now. Even now I’m only mildly interested in the super bowl

Its no different than it was in the past really.  Sometimes there are marquee match ups, other times, not so much.  If you look at the highest rated superbowls,  only a few of them featured a marquee match up of qb's.

The best thing about the NFL in the past was that the team mattered more than individuals.  If the NFL starts depending on individual match ups, the way the NBA does, viewership will decline even more rapidly.

Reddit is a really bad platform. I only occasionally go on the Panthers sub for some analaysis, the really unfunny "humor" and the fact that most mods are powerhungry assholes who don't let people speak their minds is enough to draw me away

I just watch panthers games. I use to watch whatever game was on that was NFC. I do like brady, but when you have the best Qb and best coach it's hard to beat that tandem. Do i think brady is better than Cam. Experience means a lot and having a great coach is everything..I do think that this is a very important stat. I think Cam would win about the same as Brady with Bill

What's better than the Wall Street Journal then, sir? Please let me know.

MSM in general is toxic poo ran by ??????, SJWs, and idiots (Fox). The PewDiePie bullshit permanently alienated them from me.

I don't know what any of that is. Personally I enjoy their articles. At least the WSJ articles. They give me a heads up on stocks and such.

Ah, well that's fair. They might have some insightful things, but look up the PewDiePie thing if you haven;t heard. They basically fabricated Nazi allegations (off of edgy jokes) to get companies to pull their ads which essentially fuged over everybody who uploads on YouTube (after it was exposed that their employees said some pretty edgy jokes, some a lot edgier than Pewds'). Those type of things just make me lose respect, kinda like false pedo allegations to a slightly smaller extent.

Also the penalties....I get tired of everything being against the fugin defense and you can't even play defense anymore.

Also, when you keep listening to people complain who aren't your core audience and make changes according to that then no poo you'll lose your core audience. Football fans actually want defense to exist. Its why no one watches the Big12.

People just care about matchups in College Football for the casual fan. Texas/Oklahoma was one of the most watched games last year. So was Oklahoma/Ohio State. There are no considerable teams to watch in the Big 12 but Oklahoma and Texas, and more recently just Oklahoma. If people thought the Big 12 didn't play Defense, Georgia/Oklahoma wouldn't of had over 10 million people watch it on New Years Day.

They've been working on pricing themselves out of their core market for 30 years. Their core market can't afford to go to a game, and everyone else that hopped on the train when the NFL was the cool ticket is abandoning it for something new.

That being said, if MLB can keep limping on, the NFL isn't going anywhere.

Everyone that has watched the NFL for over 20 years is still watching it.  That's the core. They're just not going to games. They're not buying NFL Sunday Ticket. They're watching the local team and other games on broadcast television.

Also making it impossible to stream the games without Sunday Ticket and charging way too much for it isn't helping.

The NFL Bubble has burst.

Greed !

It's no surprise that interest is lower, the on field product is down and it's not just the officiating.  Best athletes are opting for other sports.

I don’t agree with this. The athletes are far from the issue.

The problem is that goodell has sold out the fan bases in America by wanting to take this product global. They are also most certainly influencing the outcomes of games, which turns the nfl into reality tv More so than sport.

The true fans of the nfl just want to see the game cleanly officiated and staying here locally.  The beautiful thing about sport is that anything can happen. Unfortunately, the nfl figures they stand to make more money by controlling the outcomes and stories.
