Marty was working and there was no rush.  I agree, the timing (leaving Indy) was off.  Wonder why he told SI it was too early to make a decision about Stew and then flies home the next day to do it?  He did not have to hear it from someone else--he just did not have to stop working to take a day to leave combine prep.  Hope my point is clear--I agree with the "eye to eye" approach (if not emotional).

not sure why this is so confusing to you.

Shepard should have been ghost. Cut his ass already

I don't know why people keep calling for this.

Cut him now and you save $2.1M against the cap with $1.4M in dead money.

Cut him after 6/1 and save $2.8M with $700K in dead money.

I am no cap expert so can someone explain to me why they need to cut him now and the advantage of doing so? What am I missing here? There has to be a reason.

oh yea let’s look forward to hurney bringing in a knockout draft class like that year he picked brandon hogan, sione fua, and lawrence wilson

This is the crap I am talking about. Nothing this team does will be good enough for some of you negative fugers.

He can be cut now but designated a June 1 cut.  That will be the same thing as waiting until then to actually cut him and do the same thing with the cap/dead money.

    • So we cut him if we don't give him the option?  I'm pretty sure there are players who didn't get the 5th-year option that played year four of their rookie contracts with their draft team.
    • I didn't say do nothing if we don't draft one in the 1st and I"m not counting on a FA to magically become a franchise QB. But signing a FA to be our starter for the year and then re-address the next offseason would be FAR better than reaching on the wrong QB in the 1st this offseason. Feeling we HAVE to find our long term solution just because we need a new QB is how we got into this mess.  We thought Two Gloves would be at worst an average level QB for a few years, that didn't happen, so we went out and traded for Darnold.  That didn't work so we went out and traded for Baker, that didn't work so we went out and traded up to get Bryce. Our last 4 QB moves were all trying to force a solution, none of them worked out, and we're still trying to find Cam's replacement all these years later.  We'd just have been better off spending a year or two building up the rest of the team and going year to year on FA QB's while doing so.  I get it, it will be frustrating to deal with, but then when you find that actual long term solution, they plug right into an already built out roster and you're ready to contend immediately.
    • Great win, should be 3-0 but I'll take 2-1. LaMelo is an MVP caliber player, period.   This is looking like an incredible draft so far. Sion James looking like the exact type of role player that all contending teams need to have, absolute steal in the 2nd. Kalk is a work in progress and I question how much upside he has but he's already been a considerable upgrade at C for us compared to the last several years (outside of healthy Mark which of course was rare).   Really seems like new ownership/front office has change the culture here significantly. Every guy looks bought in now.
