Would you draft Shaquem Griffin?

Mr. Scot

The guy had 3 ints before moving to LB.

I remember we drafted a guy who they said would never be more than a KR specialist.   Turned out to possibly be the best receiver ever pound for pound.

Pedigree football and a chip on his shoulder.  If he was there with our 2nd third round pick.   He'd be a Panther.

In the second round? Heck no. He at worst will be there in the 3rd since we have 2 picks i would think about it but more than likely would trade back up into the 4th to get him. And would i draft a one handed LB who broke the 40 yard dash combine record? YES. beyond that he has proven he can make plays he's not soft. He was a conference player of the year. And he could possible play that slot hybrid we have  been trying to do with shaq but he isn't really that good at. Absolutely i want him on my team tho. Norris has been foaming at the mouth for the guy since before the combine.

As a specialist on D, and and ST guy, he is worth the 3rd. He will be a difference maker even if he plays only 25-30 snaps a game. Worried about durability as he starts with a club every day. We know guys can be top D players with a broken, clubbed hand, so can this kid. My concern is like bounty gate, someone will aim to either take out the good arm,  bully him from his left side, or funnel him left into the line at the NFL level.

Honestly think a team takes him in 2nd. The form, athletic ability, and eats sleeps breaths football all point to a guy who will succeed I'm the NFL if put in the right role. Some coach will go to bat for him, point to the combine, and NCAA production as why the arm isn't a big deal.

For those who missed that UFC/Auburn bowl game interested in watching this kid play against top college competition, spend 10 minutes and watch this:

The speed obviously translates to the field which that’s a good thing. I think he can be a very successful positionless player in the NFL on defense. What I mean by that he reminds me of Shaq Thompson, Sua Cravens, and Deone Bucannon. Once TD retires Shaquem could definitely help ease that loss a little.  He could definitely take over in our sub package whIch he also has the ability to add a passing rushing element from blitzing as well. I’m all for taking him as early as the 3rd round.

    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
    • When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
