Tempered my expectations for a Mike Wallace type signing, and I’d be fine with that

I don't know who would be sad about signing Mike Wallace. He is what we need, and he could come a lot cheaper than the top guys.

Right...Probably the closest thing to Ginn and we've seen what having just that kinda threat does for Cam and this offense

It’s called backloading a contract

A new owner---a sharp one---likely has an eagle eye on that as well.  It may be the absolute quickest way for Marty to be axed

Yeah,  @thomas96 already said that,  and that was my response.

I suppose that Hurney could justify that to a new owner,  but it still wouldn't be a good look,  especially if it doesn't work.  There is even more justification not to back load a contract when guys have injury histories.  It may be viewed as an unnecessary gamble indicative of being too concerned with the short term at the expense of the long term.  Moreover you have to realize that Jerry Richardson is still the owner of the team, and a lot of this is going to come down to how he feels about the situation.  Would he really let Hurney go down the same rab---err,  snake hole twice? I know that everyone wants to believe that it's the same old Hurney,  but he has compelling reasons not to do this.

We could help this a little by cutting Sheppardz ass right?? And Kali has to take a pay cut or cut him as well..

We could save $2.1M on the cap if we cut Sheppard now or $2.8M if we designate him as a post-June 1 cut.

Not a bunch, but it might be worth it.  I was kinda excited about the Sheppard signing because I saw him play a lot in college and thought he was a good player and then I thought he showed "potential" in TB.  But he ended up being horrible, so I think there's more value in cutting him than keeping him.  Depends on whether Ron "I love my worthless veteran players" Rivera wants to keep him or not I would think.

Also with Hurney, he backloaded players already on the team when we weren't consider for winning a championship. people may take better deals just to come here. nobody wants to go to cleveland, why you think they got that much cap space?
