5 mil to Torrey Smith is no big deal. It's not.

If he sucks, I'll admit it and move on.

But whereas previously we've signed WR's who had literally accomplished nothing of note previously (Underwood, Shepard, C. Johnson) and expected them to put up big numbers with us, guys like Ted Ginn and Torrey Smith have actually accomplished something in their respective careers.

All I'm saying is, chill and see what happens.

The thing im upset about is some people thinking this is addressing the WR position.

I want Cam to get weapons. Not hope Torrey Smith works out or our younger guys.

I want someone proven with production.

I want to like this trade, but man it is tough. I wished we would have waited a little longer.

No telling what WR's would have been available. Emanuel Sanders/Randall Cobb/Dez Bryant/Michael Crabtree/etc... could all be available soon. We settled for Torrey Smith.

Lacking? He’s literally the same type of player as Byrd and Samuel. Not exactly new, except crowding the position really.

Smith is not proven. Don’t try and kid that lol.

Dude, stop. You're making a complete ass out of yourself on this one.

Byrd has 121 career receiving yards with an 11.0 ypc average. Samuel has 115 career reciving yards with a 7.7 you average.

Torrey Smith has 4951 career receiving yards with a 16.4 ypc average.

Yes, hes coming off of two down seasons and we have to hope he can regain his form in an offemse better suited to take advantage of his strengths. But, that's why he was available and why we were able to get him in exchange for a bad CB that we were ready to move on from anyway.

Oh now you want someone with proven production? You're flip flopping like it's summer dude. He has production. Certainly world's more than the two dud WR's that you were hyping last year around this time.

I think it's about as close to guaranteed as it can get that we draft a WR early again this year. We will have options.

As for Smith,  I would say not a Ginn, but would that be lying?

Either way,  I'm good with it.

So do you think we are done at WR?

Funchess/Smith is a upgrade from last year, but that duo aint scaring any defenses. Cam said he wants weapons at WR. We gave him a another aging declining veteran.

The trade was ok. I will like it if we address WR in free agency or the draft.

DJ Moore is an intriguing prospect.

I think it's a no brainer we will draft a WR in the 1st round. Smith is another stop gap veteran who will provide leadership to the young WR's in the film room and practice field. I think our real upgrade will come in the draft.

DJ Moore or Chark, I would be happy with either.

We're not done. A playmaker will be drafted! And that's not to imply that we're even done in free agency. Smith may not even be on the team in September. Some are suggesting that Shepard is the insurance,  but Smith might be the insurance.
