Today, we share very sad news that one of our beloved Deputies passed away this afternoon. Deputy Sheriff Sylvia Deese affectionately known as “Mama Deese” suffered a medical event early Friday while working off-duty. Deputy Deese will be missed by her MCSO family, the community she served and her Carolina Panthers family as she spent many years working off-duty for the team. Our deepest condolences go out to her son who works as a dispatcher with MCSO and her husband. Please keep the Deese family in your thoughts and prayers.

She prob did.  I don’t think there is another person like her working in Sheriff dept.

I’m sure that’s her. She wow smile at me every morning as if she knew me. And this was just in passing as I would drive by. I can remember feeling bad for her a couple of times seeing her out in the rain.

Very sad news.

My previous employer partnered with the panthers on many occasions and Deputy Deese would be at many of these events that I worked. She would either be working or with her family off duty supporting the team. She was incredibly kind, friendly, and outgoing. On game day, she worked the entrance to the players lot near the row of portapotties and I would go speak to her - you could tell she loved people and her job. RIP.

    • I live in Indiana and took a trip that weekend to watch my two friend's teams play (Chiefs and Vikings) IN Minnesota when they were playing at a college field, I think TCF? Anyways, our plan was to watch the game (noon game) then do some shopping at the Mall of America, I wasn't planning on watching the Panthers play Seattle since I was out sight seeing and walking around after the noon game had ended. By the time we were walking back into the Mall the Panthers were down by 2 scores in the 4th or going into the 4th and we were all thirsty from walking around for 2.5 hours after the Vikings game so we decided to postpone shopping until after we ate. We found this nice little sports bar inside the mall that had the game on. Man, I'm so glad we skipped shopping because that was probably the most excited I've been in some time for a win. Beating Seattle in 2015 felt like the "monkey off the back" sort of feeling and I knew we had finally arrived as a team. The entire bar erupted when Cam hit Olsen for that walk off TD. Literally one of the greatest moments of my life. My friend wasn't so happy though lol, by the time the Panthers game ended ALL of the stores inside the mall had closed and he wasn't able to get any souvenirs. It was his first time watching a Vikings game live and making a trip like that so he was legit upset lol. I on the other hand couldn't have been happier.
    • This is the Buc's division to lose.  We come out on top only if the wheels come off if Tampa.  I agree we can be--and should be--better than the Saints and likely the Falcons.  A 9-8 season would be nice, but it isn't great.  It's mediocre and that something the Panthers haven't been in nearly a decade, but would be reason to celebrate.  Heck, the Steelers will likely fire Tomlin over a 9-8 season because they are tired of being mediocre.
    • First game was a awful stat line. 2nd DNP due to ankle Summer league doesn't help what hes bring, its dang near YMCA pickup game level.  I heavily question the type of player he is and his future was NOT, not not not what you use #4 pick on. Hornets got him on visit and still made the pick, they better hope he has some Larry legend in him. I maintain huge questions.
