Breer: "Drama" in the sale process, and possibly a new favorite

Hopefully everyone recognizes that the NFL owners interests don't necessarily align with those of Panthers fans.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to money.

JR may be the only thing standing between the Carolina Panthers and some interloper looking to squeeze Charlotte and NC for a new state of the art stadium or it's hasta la vista baby, arrivederci cha cha.

Would/Do you support using public funds for a new stadium to keep them here?

Which is why I think and hope JR will pick Navarro. Particularly if what's reported about Tepper not being close in $ is true.

That was starting bid though. I imagine all bidders that came in low will now have the chance to meet or beat the top bid.

As we detailed the other day, Tepper has not been the most aggressive bidder, and I think I now have a more clear understanding of why. Tepper didn’t get rich by making shaky investments. He’s brilliant, and very analytical from a business standpoint. His bid was never going to be crazy. And my sense is that he may not be willing to go much past $2 billion

Drama. It’s what makes me hate everything anymore.

May I recommend staying away from the panthers, the sale of the panthers, the nfl, the Carolina  huddle and the internet and people in general.  That should cover it all.

Also so there is no drama in the sale it’s a misleading headline. The sale is going about as steady and simple as a multi billion dollar sale can.

Drama means the assumptions made by outsiders might not be correct.

Or drama might be the word the author of the article this thread is about (you know, the one posted in the OP) used in the first line of that article to describe the fact that the NFL wasn't getting what it wanted.

I'd say that's a possibility.

from a stock perspective the buyer is getting in at the top of the market.  say the new owner gets in at 2.5 billion.  how or when do they recoup that? TV deal is one thing but still tough. I won't say the R word.

here is some data porn. before that here is a bold prediction re tv and NFL. I say ESPN gives up MNF in 3 yrs or less. they are overspending more than others while people keep cutting the cord.
