SOME 2017 STATS

#19 total offense

#28 passing

#4 rushing

#7 total defense

#18 passing defense

#3 rushing defense

# 3 sacks

NOTES: Its obvious we need a better passing attack by adding a decent receiver in the draft , we did a decent job adding wide receivers in torrey smith and jarius wright bt were missing that stud , torrey and jarius are good compliments , will samuel and byrd live up to the hype? im not going to rely on it , so i would love to take another stud receiver in the 3rd round .

PASSING DEFENSE: we need corners!!! let me say it again we need corners . watch any highlights of last season you will see us getting pressure but bradberry or worley giving up a first down , that is our biggest issues , we also need to add a safety as well and i think decent value for safety is 2nd and or 3rd round , i would like to see us double dip at db and go cb first and safety 2nd , we would get the most value out of that . Our defense is a couple defensive backs away from being the best defense in the nfl.

I would be fine with CB in the first and S in the second if they are the best players available. We are weak at CB but could find a great S in the 3rd. We also lost a lot on the o-line and need to replace or get a younger guy that can contribute. I would like to see CB in first and OT in second and S in 3rd even if we have to trade up using our other 3rd.

Safety eh? You really wanting to trot out 29yo Searcy, 37yo Adams, 30yo Colin Jones and some UDFAs? And that's it? Really?

I'm tired of depending on defense. Let's score a bunch a damn points. Nobody the last couple years have won the super bowl with defense. Look how damn awful Patriots defense was last year and they made the Super Bowl. Lol it's all about offense in the NFL now and with all the penalties they called on defense.

My “eh” was an indicationthat we are not set at saftey and i am not satisfied with our current roster

Honestly?  All we need is a modest improvement in pass defense without compromising our run defense and we have a SB caliber total defense.

Maybe not sticking two young corners on a man island because our DC is blitz happy will help.  Maybe Cockrell is an improvement over Worley.  I think we're already slightly better at corner.  We do need to replace Coleman, but I think we can still do that.  Modest improvement from 18th to tenth would be great.

As far as passing offense goes, this is where we lose games.  We absolutely must become a threat through the air.  If we were simply an average passing offense, it would further improve our run game and make our offense quite potent.  Just getting that safety out of the box and making opposing corners play honest would be huge.

Put a top 10 overall offense with a defense that is improved against the pass?  I would not want to play us in January.  In fact, I'd be terrified.

It's so easy to see that passing offense and passing defense are big reasons why this team fall short of Superbowl every year.

O-line and receivers and d-line and corner backs. Luckily the top of the draft is strong in all those areas where Panthers will be picking or trading up.

If Cam didn't carry so much of the burden on offense, we could have easily been a 3-6 win team last year.

I'm so happy Shula is gone.

You mean layered routes with guys going to the same spot on the field wasnt good?

You mean waiting until :08 left on the playclock to give the play to the field isnt good?  Not allowing the QB to get to the line read the D, make adjustment, do a couple hard counts to draw them off. Thats not good?   With no time left on the clock, allowing pass rushers to time the jump with the playclock hurting the OL, thats not good?

Damn im so glad that bum is gone.  Barring injuries, i think we see a Huge leap in offense this year.

    • Glass houses and all. I find the people who are the most adamant about this type of thing tend to have the most to hide. Careful buddy.
    • Also, wanted to point out, all 3 of the Pivot guys I respect and appreciate tremendously.  I know RC only had 1 pro bowl, but I loved his game.  He was tough as nails and played with a ton of heart and grit.  He was trying to knock people out, but was also super cerebral.  Fred is obviously a hall of famer and just as tough. Channing made the most of what he had and was hard-nosed as well.  And yet, all three of them let Steve slide on a ton of poo in this interview.  They actually cowered in several moments and I don’t like that at all.  Because for all the things I mentioned in my initial post in this thread, them not trying to reel him back in or hold his feet to the fire on certain bullshit, and feels gross.  Yall were all on the same competitive level as athletes, and yet, yall just let him skate on poo like talking about invoking using a gun on someone, laughing off how he essentially ended two teammates’ careers by BULLYING them and then co-signing it, and letting him completely sidestep accountability about his affair.  I get it, because apparently he invited you to his home to do the interview, but either talk some real poo or don’t do the interview at all.  This was some real softball poo.
    • This season’s leader, Daniel Jones, is averaging 265.9 yards per game, that would rank 12th in 2015. Even going back to 2020, he would rank 10th in passing yards. So it does appear that passing yards is down, but is that because they aren’t as good? Possibly, but we were spoilt in recent years when we had Brady, Peyton, Brees, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Rivers, Ryan, Stafford (etc). As crops of QBs go, it was an amazing era to watch and most will end up in the Hall of Fame. I’m not convinced you we could list as many potential Hall of Fame QBs from the current crop. Will it go pass heavy again? I think there’s a good chance that it will, but it will require QBs that can consistently air the ball out in the frequency we saw in the 00s and 10s. I think currently coaches are favouring a more balanced approach, if not favouring a strong running game.
