I don't expect you to refer back to it if you are wrong. CMC between the tackles is not a good idea.  AND when you use him that way, he becomes less effective as a pass receiver, where he made the most damage.  He will get his carries-but we need more.

CMC between the tackles like we ran him last year is a mistake...we ran him like Stewart, but he's a different animal that needs to be used properly.  McCaffrey can run between the tackles, but more in the way Barry Sanders and Marshall Faulk did (no, I'm not comparing them, just referring to how they are used)...and the way he did at Stanford.  He is great at finding the crease and bursting through it, but we need to have an offense designed to spread defenses out, not have them clogging the middle.  Last year, he ran into far too many stacked boxes, and really didn't have enough room to do much of anything.

i dont care about that honestly. id rather have gamebreaker ability and production for five years than half ass holding back for 7.

I have said that in the NFL, rarely does a RB earn his second contract.  While I agree with you, I see CMC more of a Westbrook than a feature back because he is most effective in a variety of positions--roles. Just me, but if he was only a RB, I would support your position 100%.  He is not a butcher knife, he is a Swiss Army.

if this franchise drafts a RB #8 and doesn't give that player the full opportunity to at least see what he can do with that kind of workload we are just fugtards. plain and simple. wouldn't surprise me Again, I agree with you, but Westbrook twice ran for over 1200 yards and during those seasons, he caught an average of 83 passes for about a 740 yard average.  During that time, he averaged 17 carries a game.  Was it too much?  If he had run 22 times per game as their workhorse, his receiving yardage would have diminished.  What I saw toward the end of the season was Cam's trust in CMC.  He was looking to him as a first option in some cases.  I do not want that to diminish.  Maybe you are right, but I am worried that the pounding will hurt him at the end of the season--when we need him the most.

give the guy the rock as much as he can handle it. draft a decent backup if he goes down..  otherwise, let it rip!!  I want a hard-nosed bull to give us some short yardage, between the tackle looks when LBs and DBs are bearing down on the LOS,  I really like Penny and Samuels.  I am not suggesting replacing the starting Rb, but getting someone who can handle certain situations where CMC's skillset is not that much of an asset.

see bold above.

He will definitely split carries. Cmac is too valuable, spread over the field. You can't take that part of his game away. I can see him getting the bulk of carries, but he's not pounding it 20+ carries a game.

And he is not the kind of back that is effective in every situation.  Shula proved that.  On certain situations, bring in a bruiser and save your weaponry for the battles where it is most effective.

There is another dynamic at play here.  If I am a player and the coach and GM go live about finding someone to play my position, how does that make me feel?  Let's say we do not add a player at your position. What do your teammates think of you if and when you screw up?

It is a good idea to praise who you have and not promote players NOT on the roster above them.

some of you would have the most rare and coveted jewel but you would discard it and never take it to a jewler or pawn shop or whatever because it wasnt shinny enough and the vague online description of it with spotty information told you it wasn't much and maybe you misdiagnosed it completly..

sell it for what you think its worth to your friend, before you gave it an honest and fair look...he takes it to the appropriate place to see its worth and to give it the appropriate attention, sells it for riches... and youre a sucker

and if you have that jewel... dont put it on some dumbass piece of metal that looks like sshit. dont misuse it. put it and utilize it in fabulous fashion. dont hide it show that sshit off. make it a focal point of your attire.

That is why I could never understand why some folks buy a new pickup truck and then baby it--scared to scratch it or put miles on it.

Therefore, I am advocating that the big car factories only manufacture used trucks.

I have more ideas too.  Not just that one.
