OPINION: Panthers will sign a veteran RB

I've been saying since day 1, the guy we should sign in FA is Alfred Morris.  He can do all the same stuff that stew did at a fraction of the price.  Better yet, and probably most importantly, he's run some of the zone read stuff and been very successful with it, so he will know when hold and let go on the exchange which is probably CAP's biggest mistake right now.  If we want another Stew on the roster, that's the guy IMO.

I thought someone said that Norv was bringing in his own system.  Maybe he eliminates the read option?

But if they keep running read option Alfred is best option....idk if has any crazy power though.

My guess is that he will keep atleast a few of those wrinkles, you can't completely drop something that works that well from the playbook.  That said, I've always thought Alfred Morris was more of a power runner.  Here's the highlights from last year, Nov 30th.  He was featured that week and ran up 127 yards and a TD.  You can see a good amount of tread and power in the highlight.  I will admit that those holes the O-line was blowing were gigantic, but still pretty impressive for a guy we'll only use as a power back.

Also need a safety.

So we finished free agency and the draft and what do we still need? Secondary help, backup QB, and short yardage back but most likely CAP, as i've stated numerous times, is going to be the guy. Hurney probably didn't want to sit there and explain himself to Person.

I think Searcy was brought in for insurance Incase the draft fell that way it did.

I didn’t really think that the Panthers liked any of the safeties after Derwin that much. I knew from the beginning that Ronnie Harrison was not a Rivera’s type of safety; similar to a Landon Collins (box safety) who we passed up on. Rivera seems to like more of the coverage safety. Justin Reid was a Rivera’s type of safety but I’m afraid that we passed up on him due to his brother (Eric Reid).

I’m still 50/50 on Searcy. He could be a possible cut if he doesn’t perform well in the preseason. I still feel like we will bring in a vet safety for stability: Mike Mitchell?

Running back will more than likely be address as well. CJ would fill in nicely for Stewart and an upgrade. I don’t think Rivera/Hurney really wanted to spend another high pick on a RB after Gman took CMC last year.

Anderson makes the most sense, but I'm all in for Orleans Darkwa. Young, compliments CMC perfectly and emerged as a capable back when givem the rock.

I'd also be cool with Alfred Morris or maybe checking in on one of the Redskins backs. After taking Guice, I feel like they have a surplus.
