For all those "We suck at drafting" people

Recommended Posts

Drafting is more about just All Pros. The issue with our drafting is that it has largely been boom or bust. We’ve had numerous entire draft classes that were entire busts or where we got one great player and the rest was utter trash. Those types of drafts really show up on your overall depth chart. It’s how you end up with our secondary last year and fielding a WR corps of practice squad players in a playoff game.

So you're saying that Hurney was almost always able to nail his 1st rounders?

Isn't that what everybody has been saying all along?

No I'm saying out of the entire league we have done very well drafting first team All Pros. Which is pretty cool. I also find it interesting GB only has 2 which really shows how much Rodgers has done for that team.

You can look at it with a 'but we haven't won a SB with 'em' attitude, but I'd rather just enjoy it as cool too.

About 50% of drafted players actually make it in the league.  Hurney is damn near 100% in the first round, which means that his picks which are potentially great hit with regularity.  His other picks drag his performance down to normal levels, but since his hits are consistent in round one, he actually ends up drafting better than most.  Everyone just thinks he sucks because half his day two picks fail, and he doesn't manage to find all-pros in day three.

Most of those who say our drafts suck are also the ones who always proclaim we suck. They were particularly loud, wrong and stupid last year as they decried an 11-5 season.

Welcome to "Who's Huddle Is It Anyway" where the points are made up and the score doesn't matter!

    • That’s not a bad idea at all. I was really liking the whole cali-style carne asada. We might do that next week instead of enchiladas for the rams. Was planning on: Saints-Gumbo Tampa-Cuban Sandwiches Seattle- Salmon Stew Tampa- Seafood Boil
    • I agree, honestly you can not trade a player that has Balls talent. Just sitting in street clothes FOR years, it doesn't matter if you are averaging 50points on 88% with 18 rebs, 15 asst, 4 stls if you never can play. These are the worst type of players, teasers. Its HIS JOB to get his body in NBA shape and he has proven that he can not. Thus you break the rule about trading top shelf talent. Hell NBA need to have NFL contracts where the full sum isn't guaranteed, you bet your ass if his money was tied to his playing on the court he'd somehow figure out how to stay healthy.   Plus Im a old head, I member when Seth Curry in his 17(Jesus..) year career had ankle problems and guess what, he solved the issues and got all the money, championships, and fame. Ball doesn't have the same drive to figure out his body, he'd rather drive his car on kids feet while rushing home to drive his go-cart on the roof of his condo after missing his 42nd game of the season.....
