All of the consequences to this are ultimately his fault and no one else's.

I wonder what the NFL does with the investigation now.

I assume it will continue until they're confident that no other employees that will continue to be on the payroll had any involvement in the scandal. If they determine it was just Richardson, I honestly hope they just drop it. He's out of there and it's not like any charges will be filed against him. As to the speculation of forfeiting draft picks, there's no way they would want to penalize Tepper like that right out of the gate for something he had nothing to do with.

Yeah I'm done with this garbage. I'm excited to watch the league's continued collapse.

Can you elaborate on this “continued collapse” you mentioned?

80 of the top 100 TV programs last year were football, and a mediocre NFL franchise just sold for over 2 billion dollars.

Tepper is a single owner correct? I am sure that is also preferred.

Exactly and richer than all the Panthers minority and majority owners combined. Would you rather have your One business partner or 20+?  This was a no brainer and is no reason to hate on the NFL for. The NFL does plenty of crap that is actually rotten than have a preffference of business parters to deal with. Scandals, divorce, lawsuits, media exposure.

The league wanting Tepper around for the next CBA negotiation has been discussed before.

(guessing they  expect him to have better negotiating tactics than asking if someone can read a pie chart)

What were the concerns over Navarro’s practices? Sounds like the nfl is using a vague excuse to not allow one of their own to take over an nfl team.

Confused at some of the people in this thread that are upset at this. Why are you sad for a sexual predator that only gets $2.2 billion instead of $3 billion?

If I were to be upset at anything, its the lack of this being a fair bidding process. Doesn't seem right regardless of what you think of Tepper or Richardson.  Basically telling Tepper he can have it at 2.2 but telling anyone else they've got to pay 2.5+ is bs no matter how you spin it.

Just another quiver in the storyline NFL era. If this doesn't prove the NFL riggs games nothing will. Good news for us though is that the will want to give Tepper a SB soon to push a new stadium.

I don’t think the NFL out right cheats and rigs games, but I 10000000000% think that they examine story lines and push for an agenda to create a better product and maximize their exposure/viewership. Things like recommending officials target certain players/teams more for penalties, etc. doing what they can to help certain teams advance in playoff games etc

And it appears it would have sold for closer to 3 with any kind of legitimate bidding process.

When it's one owner or having a group of owners, they certainly prefer having one guy who can pay for the whole thing up front rather a bunch of schmucks digging through their couches trying to find the change and having to take out a loan.

It certainly smells like collusion. It’s the same reason why the anthem protestors haven’t been signed anywhere. It’s a small group of people, with a shitload of money, power, influence, and resources banding together to get their desired outcome regardless of law, ethics, and fairness. Sound familiar?

I can't recall a previous time when a property like this went to anyone other than the highest bidder.

I know there are concerns about Navarro, but that doesn't explain Kestenbaum or Rubin.  And you've got the NFL seeming to actively discourage Rubin despite his being a business partner.

Rubin probably could have paid what Tepper is paying, especially with Tsai behind him.  Heck, maybe Navarro or Kestenbaum could have too.

Pretty clear they wanted Tepper above all else.

Bingo. The “NFL is collapsing, dying, won’t be around in 25 years” narrative is a joke. Anyone who believes that to be true is very naive or is very dumb. Maybe both.

Other sources have confirmed that Richardson wanted 3 billion.

That was just never gonna happen.

I was referring to the "shocking less" of 100 million dollars when we are talking about billions of dollars

Regarding the bids of 2.5 or more, LaCanfora said Tepper repeatedly told the NFL "if you've got somebody offering that price, take it."

Maybe he knew the money wasn't there, maybe not (kinda hard to believe he'd know anything about another billionaire's finances).  More likely he just wasn't gonna budge from what he believed the team's value was.

Tepper played chicken with the NFL, and won.

this doesn't surprise me and it's part of the reason i've wanted him since i first learned about him. he's going to make one shrewd owner....one bastard of an owner even and he's ours.
