How would you rank D-lines?

Pretty shocked to see the Panthers omitted from a ranking of the top 8 D-lines (Gregg Rosenthal, NFL.com) today.

I know there are some fierce lines (Eagles, Rams, Houston, Jags...) but I would have thought we might be ranked somewhere around 6 or 7?

Worse still, we didn't even get one of 4 honorable mentions, so basically they have us at 13 or lower.

I'm not too worried. It's just ammo for our guys. (Mario even tweeted about it!)

But two questions.

Why do you think we were snubbed? Peppers age?

Where would you honestly rank Panthers D line?

By the way, according to Bryan Strickland on today's Panthers podcast, Daeshon Hall was looking very good at OTAs yesterday (when it was closed to the media).

Obviously it's impossible to judge the lines until pads come on at training camp, but if Hall is ready to step up, it's great news.

I’m looking forward to Hall and Haynes in TC, I think they can both bring something to the table. I do think it’s odd that our dline isn’t ranked on their list. Heck, had both starting DEs wih what, 10+ sacks, KK and Poe in the middle...that’s pretty good.

People here and homers everywhere need a reality check.  I’ve been saying this for awhile.

Wes Horton is propped up on this site as being something that he’s not-a good DE.  Makes me want to vomit he’s hung around this long.

I like Butler and the injury last August was a shame, but he’s still unproven.

KK is good with the potential to be great but not elite or a future HOFer and probably overrated by most Panther fans.  His getting owned my Mack still irks me as does his inconsistency.  Poe’s injury concerns are unsettling as well.

Star and Ealy were highly drafted defensive linemen and are now gone.

Mario is an OK specialist but moves zero needles outside of this fan base.  Hall and Haynes are projects.

Peppers IS old by NFL standards, obviously.

Gregory McKarl Hardy is also gone but still 8.5 years younger than Pep and available.

those people are idiots. If peppers doesn't regress our line will be even better. Poe is better than star anyways

Denial is not just a river in Egypt.  Look at the other teams/players on the list.  In THIS particular case it’d be very homeristic to have the Panthers on it.  Multiple players with age and/or injury issues and/or multiple unproven players will have to maximize their potential to make this list, assuming Tepper does not shock the free world and sign Hardy.

We were third in the league in sacks last year. 2 10+ sack DEs. 2 pro bowl DTs. The question marks on our line come from depth, save peppers, who has proven time and time again he can beat Father Time. But sure, bc I disagree with you I’m in denial. Great joke you should use that all the time

Calling them idiots is denial.  Everything will have to line up in terms of injuries and maximizing potential to make this list.  No, it’s not impossible, but truthfully more likely that a domino will fall in a negative way.  We’ll see if the rest stand up when that domino or others does fall.

I wouldn’t expect a top ranking. We are stout inside but thin on the edge.

Beyond Peppers and Addison who are both older we don’t have much proven here. Horton and Cox can contribute. Hall is basically unknown but I think he’ll be solid.

If he could give solid run support this year it would be huge.
