Jackie Miles leaving the Panthers

Mr. Scot

The longtime equipment manager is apparently headed to New York where they just fired the guys that were part of the Eli memorabilia scandal.

Person says he may not be the only one.

Miles is remembered for refusing to give out the number 51 until the Panthers finally got the hint and retired it.

I think it's more a case of "find another job rather than wait around to see whether or not they keep me", and it's probably a common thought.

I've heard it suggested that a number of resumes might be floating around Buffalo and East Rutherford this summer.

He had already retired and was replaced by his long time assistant. Saw that weeks ago when the rookies were getting fitted for helmets

Yeah, this should be old news that he was gone. I guess Person doesn’t watch panthers.com?

Except now he's "unretired" and going to work for the Giants.

He also famously never issued #1 until Cam was drafted.

That was JR, said #1 belonged to the fans....Cam wanted #2, Clausen had it and wouldn't give it up, so he took 1 to more or less sum up the depth chart to Clausen

Yep. I doubt we see any big shake ups this offseason but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the organization gets more or less gutted from top to bottom next year.

    • I agree but he honestly has gotten better about this. Used to be he’d do it like 4-5 times a game, now it’s like 2-3. Overall I’m incredibly happy with his game, his D has been solid and when he is playing his role he’s a solid scorer and one of the few guys who can consistently finish at the rim and provide that threat. Plus he’s electric and LaMelo loves him. Going into the season I was sure he would just be a stop gap here but now I’m reconsidering and could see him continue to be a “core” piece here. Obviously not on the level of the other starters but he is an important cog for this team. We felt his missed presence during his and Moose’s suspensions.
    • Philly will be a bigger challenge than the Knicks were IMO. George and Embiid are back, not sure about Maxey but Embiid alone is a nightmare matchup for us and Moose. We’ve never really done well against him. Celtics added Tatum but honestly not sure they’re all that much better with him right now than they were when we whooped them a few weeks ago. We should be able to at the very least split these 2, hopefully take both.
