Steve Smith....lets put this to a end

He’s done so many community and charity events in Charlotte and continues to including raising money against domestic violence but he’s some lowlife monster who doesn’t deserve his accomplishments acknowledged apparently because he broke a guy’s jaw.

Doesn’t need to be in the Ring Of Righteousness but put some respeck on his damn name. Retire #89 and let the fans celebrate what he meant to us and this team one more time.

You do realize Smith is THE REASON why we were even competitive in the 2000s? Like for that whole decade it was him and him alone who should any sort of heart and desire for us to win.

this is 100% false....

he was a good player for us but to say he was the reason is just stupid

Obviously football is a team sport so one player can only have so much of an impact.

Name me one player better on the panthers in the 2000s.

Nah he pretty much carried the offense 2005-2011. He is legitimately one of the greatest and one of the most underrated WR of all time.

That said. He is batshit crazy

Smitty is my favorite player ever but the next statue should be TD and it’s not even close. He defines “Keep Pounding” and has been hear his entire career. I don’t care about this PED mess. He’s been a model citizen and a TRUE team leader. He’s given his all to this team and deserves to be honored

    • I think they are holding back to see what they have in the young guys, but I think it's a near certainty at some point they will bring someone else in. Right now (assuming we keep 5 CBs which is normal), the top 5 IMO are: 1) Jaycee Horn 2) Mike Jackson 3) Chau Smith-Wade 4) Shemar Bartholomew  5) Akayleb Evans   Obviously Jaycee is the alpha in that room and paid as such. Need him to stay healthy and continue to play at a Pro-Bowl level. Mike Jack did pretty well all things considered last year, and they gave him lower-level starter money. Fair deal for both sides.  Smith-Wade showed some promise as a slot CB. I think low-key he's a lock for the team. Different size and skill set than the other CBs. Shemar Bartholomew was the most sought after waiver claim last preseason. Was 5th CB most and inactive most of last year. Had a few defensive and ST snaps. Nothing of note good or bad but too small a sample size to make any judgment. Akayleb Evans was a 2022 4th Rounder for the Vikings. Has started 19 games (including Week 18 for the Panthers) in his career and played in 43. Was pretty good in 2023 before getting injured and falling down the depth chart last year. There's some other guys on the outside looking in, but until they show more in training camp I dont see anyway they make the 53. And only Jaycee, Mike Jack, and Smith-Wade are locks to make this roster IMO.
    • Was just reading the Ask the Old Guy story on the team's website and was shocked to see that only two 2nd Rounders have signed so far, 30 of them haven't. That isn't normal, the Texans really screwed things up for the rest of the league, no other explanation that I can think of for 30 of the 32 picks to still be unsigned at this point.
    • They need to address CB before season starts. This is not going to cut it.
