The difference between Hall and players like Ealy and Alexander is circumstances.

Ealy had all the tools but never panned out. Didn't help that he was young and had to start while devolping.

Alexander definitely flashed but couldn't stay on the feel. I am a big proponent of legalizing pot but I can't condone smoking it if your job regularly checks for it.

Hall can come along like Addison and Horton has. He doesn't need to start. He can learn behind Pep and Addison, the later of which has recently complimented him highly, and I believe he can come along nicely.

The refs weren't having that. Back then I said the officials flew in on the SF charter plane. Total screw job.

Agreed but we weren't able to generate any pressure on Kaep all game, mainly because Hardy got double teamed and CJ wasn't 100%.

would be great if this guy comes thru

also...i am in favor of trading every 4th round & back picks for more third rounders...4th and beyond end up being camp fodder at best

lets see some examples of 4th and back that have even made the team for more than a yr?

Greg Hardy (6), Josh Norman (5), Captain Munnerlyn (7)... then there's solid depth guys like AJ Klein (5), David Mayo (5), Geoff Schwartz (7), Gary Barnidge (5), Dante Rosario (5).

Rounds 6 and 7 are definitely more of a crapshoot though

Why is it that we've heard almost didly squat about Hall the entire offseason save for the one puff piece by panthers.com (which was on April 9th)? Has he improved, even without pads? Has he picked up size to compete at the NFL level? We need answers @Jeremy Igo (pretty please with sugar on top:crying:).

All jokes aside, I do wonder about his development and Bryan Cox Jr.'s as well.

They couldn't score on us until they got help, a lot of help. I was foaming at the mouth in the first quarter when I saw the fix was in. The players knew it. NOBODY was going to stop the 49ers road to Seattle, a team we were equipped to beat that year and the 49ers were not.

That and the Cam no calls have really made me step back emotionally from NFL football.

Yep. Pretty damn sour taste.

I'm pretty sure that and the redemption 15-1 season ending the way it did and the start of the next year, too. Just emotional killers.

Frankly Hall's college "tape" was pretty unimpressive. He may check all the measureables boxes, but he was not very productive in spite of the extra attention Garrett received.

Color me a bit skeptical. Until he shows he can translate those measureables into actual production he remains a project in my eyes.

This is my impression.  HOWEVER, I would add that Hall played a 3-4 OLB at Tex AM and had put on a lot of weight in a short amount of time, entering as a 200 lb freshman.  He was very weak in his upper body; maybe last year's knee injury allowed him to work on that.

If memory serves me, we traded up for him after a pretty strong run on DEs.  He is a potential pick, but was not expected to see the field much in 2017.

Hall probably needs another year in a limited role, but he will be part of the rotation this season.  Peppers, Addison, and Horton need to stay healthy or this season is over.

We have some pretty decent potential in Haynes, Cox Jr, and Obada. I think we draft DE #1 next year, so I am going to watch the potential closely this year.  By the end of the season, Hall needs to be a decent player.
