Norv on Sirius NFL Radio tonight...8PM

Polian was talking about the Panthers/panther sale when I started listening.  Only heard a couple of minutes.  One interesting thing he said was that a practice facility was in JR's original plans...and for some reason he later changed his mind.  Did not mention a reason.  Said Panther current practice facilities woefully inadequate.  (As we know)

There was not a great deal of substance. He did point out that his job is to adapt his system to the skills of his players. He did briefly answer a question related to Cam's accuracy issues. Predictably, he believes that Cam will be more consistent this year. He knows Cam is capable because he would have a period games where his QB rating was near or above 100. His goal is to reduce the games where that rating suffered.

I did note that when he was asked about CJ Anderson, he immediately reminded the host of Cameron Artis Payne and his abilities. He also mentioned McCaffery and his skills.

I did like how he mentioned that his son Scott was Cam's QB coach the 1st 2 years and has a lot of familiarity of the Chub system.

Plus like how he talks about adapting his style of play to what his players do best.  I also believe he knows how to do that.

I've said it before.  Norv will be the biggest off-season acquisition for the Panthers.

Imagine the offense behind Cam's first two seasons instead of the protege we have the architect.

This time we have a defense to go with it.

I agree. Like I said before, a record-setting season isn't just a pipe dream. 2015 could happen again, only this time, we will learn from the 2 we lost.

Now, I'm certainly not expecting that. But it wouldn't shock me to see the Panthers come out and obliterate those first few opponents in route to such a season.

I know a few years when the panthers we’re negotiating the upgrades with the city the panthers wanted money to build a practice facility but the city wouldn’t give them the money. Was that what he was referring to?

No, Polian was referring to the beginnings of the team.  He was the GM back then.

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
